[QUOTE="Archon Basileus, post: 7143801, member: 6855545"] [B]ASTRID The green fields spark gold under the winds as the horse rides through the serpentine path towards the mountains. Not far, the village of Forsa appears, encroached between two grey mountainous protrusions that gently spread like a lazy embrace upon the planes. Forsa is a mandatory stop for anyone willing to cross the gates into the valleys beyond. Or so Alec taught her when, years before, her family visited the lords of the city. As Astrid arrives, she realizes how much the place has grown since her childhood. It’s ancient walls, said to have held against Wyrgenland invaders long ago, are no strangers to the MacTiers. Within, a bustling community flourishes around a crystal-clear lake. In its center, a small, rocky island holds the longhouse for lady Olga of Forsa, heir to an old line of Jarls that swore obedience and allegiance to the MacTiers centuries ago. She inherited the place after the tragic death of her parents in an excursion to Wyrgenland, a few years ago. A sad story, and one that made no justice to their bravery. As Aegir hammered their karve with towering waves, their fate was sealed. Astrid wonders how little Olga looks like these days, how the youth she met when she first passed through Forsa held up after her parents’ passing… But this is not a diplomatic visit, Astrid remembers well. As she searched for clues to her child’s whereabouts, Astrid received news frighteningly familiar to her. Trials to the likeness of the one she faced might be happening to other women around Forsa. It is said that pregnant girls have been abducted from her own beds at night. Some of them were never seen again. Others were found dead, their bellies torn open. As it goes, many bodies were found around the sacred falls behind the city, the very same that fed the lake within it’s walls. There, it is known, the lords of Forsa pray for Nerthus, asking for plentiful crops and strong children. Still, people avoid the place at certain hours nowadays, saying that strange chants are uttered in the woods around the brooks, as the night falls silent… As Astrid rides among the pagans, her inconspicuous figure still unnoticed, she’s met with her first choice. Either she turns her visit into an official matter, housing herself among her forsan ‘cousins’ and sworn at Olga’s longhouse, or she remains in anonymity, seeking refuge at a local inn or seeking a place to set up camp.
