Sure, and like Valentines Day, Mother's Day etc, GM's Day doesn't have to be comercialised if you don't want it to be. I was saying this from word go. You can always make them a dinner, or a pretty card, or run a game for them for once! First and foremost it's about saying thanks to the GM, and there are lots of ways of doing that. I kinda guessed that the whole GM's day thing would get commercialised, but it's never bothered me - it's a way to spread the word. And I like giving pressies, anyway! As for the little bit of evangelising that we have done (asking people to get on the bandwagon, burgeoning idea etc) it's a fair cop there. I guess it's 'cos we think its a good idea, and one that we would like more people to know about. As you can see from this thread alone, a lot of people still haven't heard about it, so we're just trying to spread the word a little. I can also see what you mean about possibly creating Ill will if W/C came on board, and I like that, at least for the moment, it's been driven by the hobbiests and small web publishers. It feels more like something we're doing for ourselves. I'm hoping that people see it that way -as a positive thing, and not somethings GM's are doing to get their players to pat them on the back or as a money grabbing exercise. As I said in a related thread - it really needs to be player driven. It makes me wonder who actually came up with the idea for mother's day - whether it was just someone who gave a little pressie to his mum each year, or someone in a department store who was pushing for an angle, or it was christianised version of some ancient ritual - like Easter and Christmas and so on. Ditto for Valentine's Day. Oh, and by all means, poke fun. Please! :D
