Events in 1879

Perhaps this is because I'm bored...but I thought it might be interesting (esp. for those of us who are less familiar with this time-period) to post any interesting "world-events" happening in 1879. I'm not really talking about the "weird" stuff relevant to the game so much as the world at-large. This might be especially useful since some characters aren't from the US.

For example, since my character is British, it might be useful to know that in Jan. the Anglo-Zulu war began.

oooh...that's a good one. I think Nostradamus predicted that, too...just like he predicted everything else, as long as one doesn't pay a lot of attention to the actual text of his quatrains, and instead just overlays their own meanings on the words. :p

You only think that because you aren't an open-minded person who is willing to consider the lessons to be learned from nontraditional perspectives. ;)

Right. Obviously, any who'd scoff at the predictive power of Nostradamus must either be 1) part of the establishment or 2) brainwashed by someone/thing that is part of the establishment.
