Good thing FO:NV was lead written by the wildly successful John Gonzales, who is a significantly better writer than Avellone ever has been, and directed and designed by Josh Sawyer, who is straight-up far smarter than Avellone. Avellone was one of three writers underneath John Gonzales, and Josh Sawyer has talked about the development of FO:NV a lot (because fans are obsessed with it), and he's been pretty clear Eric Fenstermaker and Gonzales are responsible for the "best bits" of NV. I mean, Sawyer would never put it like that, he's super-polite, but in terms of who apparently wrote what. Avellone had literally nothing to do with FO1, and was only one of several designers/writers on FO2, and Mark O'Green was the main actual writer-writer on that. So why does his uninformed opinion matter here? It's certainly not ironic or remotely surprising - he's a bitter guy who is bitter about pretty much every project he's ever been involved with, except maybe Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which features some of his worst work. He's even been bitter about Planescape: Torment, which should be his triumph! I guess this is what happens when you peak at the start of your career? The sexual assault allegations he later got out of gave people the excuse to not hire him anymore, but he'd already been ditched by several companies because he's a prima donna. Just look at his credits. Really impressive until you note how many different companies in quick succession he's been working for, and how he quickly became a lead designer (under two years!), but hasn't been allowed to be one since 2010. By anyone. (Avellone has also been very weirdly self-contradictory about what writing he actually did on various games, so aside from PS:T it's pretty hard to work out what he actually did and didn't do. For example, he's both claimed to be responsible for most of Durance's dialogue and story in Pillars of Eternity, and basically none of Durance's dialogue or story, at different times.) This is so misleading as to be basically misinformation - I will say that's down to clickbait games news headlines rather than you though. But you might want to be a little more critical in how you read them, and actually read the articles. Fallout London has been delayed until after the new FO4 patch comes out, and depending on how much that changes, and how long FO4's script extender (required for Fallout London) takes to come back online, it'll be delayed. But the FO:London team think that's somewhere between a few days and at absolute worst, single-digit months.
