He loathes goblins, </p><p>kobolds, and other small, beady-eyed creatures. He has an affinity </p><p>for gems and does not like giving them up once he has them. He </p><p>secretly admires the physical form of female halflings, as well as </p><p>their cooking.</p><p> He is an accomplished dungeoneerer and no stranger to the dangers </p><p>that lurk under the earth. At the same time his pragmatism, eye </p><p>for danger, and crossbow skills translate well to above-ground </p><p>situations. He has a strong sense of duty, tradition, and fairness. </p><p>He is suspicious towards strangers, unless they are dwarfs. His </p><p>frankness and rough language may make him seem unkind at times, but </p><p>he has a good heart and does not like seeing innocent or helpless </p><p>creatures suffer. He is not afraid to get dirty, either with mud </p><p>or blood. Even so, the thought of undead makes him uncomfortable. </p><p>The thought of dwarven undead is abhorrent. He is comfortable </p><p>leading in situations where he is confident in his skills. He is </p><p>ready to follow orders if they are given by someone he trusts to be </p><p>competent.</p><p> When making decisions, he really likes to weigh his options. When </p><p>pressed to make decisions quickly, he follows his gut and </p><p>rationalizes it later. He usually has a serious demeanor, but is </p><p>tickled by puns and cleverness with words. He loves to drink ale, </p><p>even human ale if he can get enough of it. Once he's had a few he </p><p>can become boisterous, cheerful, and even playful. </p><p>His uncle owns a mining operation, which has been quite successful </p><p>in procuring silver ore and raw rubies from the depths. Goraki </p><p>spent his youth in the depths under the earth, working. There he </p><p>learned the mining trade and the value of labor, skill, and close </p><p>kin. However, as the dwarves broadened and deepened their mines in </p><p>the search for more wealth, he also learned of the dangers of the </p><p>deep. Hazardous cave formations and hostile creatures eventually </p><p>became a possibility of every-day life. When he came of age he was </p><p>selected to be among those mapping new tunnels, identifying </p><p>dangers, and tracking & exterminating vermin (lesser humanoid </p><p>creatures and monsters that live underground). This is the </p><p>profession which formed his current ranger skill-set. </p><p> Precious metals and gems are never out of style. Because of this, </p><p>Goraki and his clan know their mines will not last forever. Some </p><p>of the more resourceful dwarfs have been sent out as </p><p>prospectors--scouts of sorts--to locate new areas for outposts and </p><p>possible sources of wealth to secure a future for his clan, and all </p><p>of dwarfkind. The disappearance of the Nezumi present an especially </p><p>unique opportunity. Goraki volunteered to be one of those </p><p>forerunners.</p><p> </p><p> Dwarfs live a long time, and Goraki expects this particular task </p><p>to last a couple decades or more, and plans to be careful to live </p><p>long enough to complete it. In the meantime, he must sustain </p><p>himself and maintain his equipment. This opens the doors for all </p><p>kinds of opportunities, encounters, friendships and adventures to </p><p>occur...</p><p> He is stoutly built and looks strong for his size. His dark brown beard is </p><p>quite thick and reaches down to his waist. When entering a new room, </p><p>he always blinks a few times, as if adjusting to the light. He wears a </p><p>shining short-sleeved chain mail shirt over a slate-gray tunic. His backpack</p><p> looks quite full and has a bedroll strapped to the top of it. There is a </p><p>large steel shield attached to the backpack, as well as a conical helmet. </p><p>On his belt hangs a very well made dwarven waraxe, as well as a quiver </p><p>packed with bolts. In his hands is a light crossbow, unloaded, also well </p><p>made and inlaid with silver scroll work. He has sturdy looking but worn </p><p>leather boots.
