What’s SHIFT?
SHIFT is a pick-up-and-play roleplaying game system developed by Hit Point Press that offers diverse options for Game Masters (GMs) and players alike. Its minimal rule set contains everything a GM needs to facilitate an exciting, character-driven story for the players.
SHIFT is currently in open beta and the ruleset is available for free here!
What are Traits?
SHIFT is built out of one central element: the Trait.
Traits can describe anything and everything - a superhero's fire powers, a monstrosity’s teeth... even a vehicle's ramshackle engine! Every Trait has a die assigned to it (D4 - D12) that represents the Trait's strength.
Taking dangerous / daring actions moves the story forward, and rolling dice ramps up the excitement.
When a player rolls the highest result on a die (4 on D4, 10 on D10, etc.) they must shift down to the next worst die. The Trait is Exhausted if its die is a D12 and has to shift down again!
Traits for each of the Floral Dragons will be delivered to you as a digital PDF as part of your January rewards!
