[QUOTE="Jago, post: 6902707, member: 6855130"] ~ The smell of smoke began to fill the air, the sounds of battle and screaming growing louder. This was no mere raid, Koldan concluded: this was an actual battle, with Triboar itself at stake. Himself and his allies needed to mop up here as fast as possible and get to the true source of the conflict, ending this before any more devastation could come to the city. The Ranger of The North hustled along, reloading the mechanism of his crossbow once more. He was chewing through bolts faster than he would have liked, but he cared naught for such a paltry thing as material possessions when lives were at stake. What's more, he felt driven; each thundering clash in the distance, every rolling crash of sound made him remember and recall the moment of his youth. The moment his life was sundered from childhood, parents taken, and he saved only by the kindly, old Elf. The day of fire in the snows, and men as tall as mountains. Snarling, Koldan raised the weapon once more, locking eyes with the axebeak down the road. A shame that the creature had to die, but it helped its Orcish masters to commit this slaughter: Returning it to the dirt was the proper thing to do. His ears popped as that sharpness of sense flooded back in, the world turning to greyscale around him while the axebeak jumped out in vivid color. He could see the slight luminescence of its feathers, the way its talons gripped the earth with every step. He could hear its labored breath as it carried its heavy, Orcish rider. The small flecks of blood upon its beak, dried, from a meal previous. He saw all these things, and resolved to stop them. He did not see Darathra bring her sword to bare against the other orc, did not see Uric to his side. All there was, all there would every be for the next few seconds, would be the hollow ring of his drawstring and the rush of fresh crimson onto the ground.
