Derrenil, Cleric 2, Hp: 18/18 Derrenil hung back slightly, allowing Kergen to speak to the strangers. She watched him interact and reflected backwards to their first meeting in the forest. It was a night of the full moon -- it had rose up high over the trees and cast down thick beams where it pierced the canopy. Derrenil was on her way to a small pool, formed as a spur-offshoot from the stream that ran nearby her make-shift home, in her ceremonial white sheath-dress to pay homage to her goddess. She spotted the dwarf's campfire and attempted to skirt it for the most part, but not being completely trained in the art of silent movement, she had stepped onto a dry fallen branch which made a very audible 'snap'. He had bellowed a challenge to the night, but she didn't answer, for she was content to slip further into the woods, but her white dress and hair did not aid in her escape or ability to hide. Next thing she knew, the dwarf was upon her and looked quite threatening with his axe. Although he has always claimed that he was about to cut her in twain, the look on his face suggested otherwise -- for the maidens of Elistraee are known throughout the realm for their heavenly beauty -- made even more pronounced with their ceremonial dresses. His look was more of surprise and wonder -- his curiousity sated, he followed her to the pool and watched as the solstice ceremony was performed. Afterwhich, they spoke at great length as to what brought a dwarf and a drow to call the trees of the forest home and found that they had much in common. They have become close friends since, with Derrenil looking upon Kergen much as one would an older, protective, brother. The surface elf, Bael, was a bit more of a harsh introduction -- for he still harbored the prejudice against the drow as a whole. After some time together, they too, have become close, as he realized that not all drow are the scheming, evil temptresses that are stereotypical -- but some turn their backs upon their culture and strive to aid others in need. Bael is always trying to goad Derrenil into an archery contest -- for he believes that surface elves are far superior archers -- she has just one caveat -- that Derrenil sets the rules of such a contest. (little does Bael realize that her first rule would be that it is conducted in pitch darkness) She has come to think of Bael as a brother -- but one that still is not completely trusting in her. The human is an enigma to Derrenil -- he has kept his guard up for the most part around her, and she barely knows anything about him -- he speaks little, and keeps to himself. His true aims and desires are still hidden, but he appears to posess a good heart. She likens him to an iceberg that she can only see a few feet of above the water.
