[QUOTE="Sparky, post: 4588894, member: 13681"] The central atrium of Naedur soars above. At this lowest level of the City proper, the atrium is a mere 30 axe-handles across. The width of the atrium at each level increases making the space it creates resemble a great cone resting on its point. At the highest level a great half-sphere dome springs upwards. From the keystone of the dome hangs the Sunstone. It glows a dim purpled orange. A waterfall plunges from one of the upper levels and is captured in a series of channels before tumbling down again and again. It disappears on one of the lower channels to reappear from a hole high in the wall of the growing cavern. Korask lowers half of his crew in a woven basket. His muscles flex as he turns a winch that plays out a length of chain. Across the atrium other baskets with other workers lower down, down, down to the plinths. He winches the basket back up and then lowers the rest of his crew, you, down to the hammer plinth. The basket sways and the lot of you, two eladrin, two dragonborn and a dwarf are pressed into rather close contact. Peering over the edge of the basket (or through small gaps in Zlatan's case) the cavern floor is far below, getting closer in steady lurches. In the rising light the shimmer of water can be seen in orderly channels. The irrigation system. Stone plinths rise from the cavern floor arrayed evenly around the irregularly shaped cavern. One of the dragonborn, a gray-green scaled youth with thin black tendrils bound behind his head, shoulders his sling and tramps down the narrow spiral stair down to the cavern floor. He squints around the unfamiliar cave and realizes that this is the famous Orchard of Naedur. This cavern was supposed to support plants that only grew Outside. These were certainly strange looking... pale green scales, thin and transluscent, like cloth, fanned from flaking brown tendrils. Along the tendrils, under the fanning cloth-scales, clusters of a deep purple fruit and... OW! Thorns. Spaced out along the tendrils of the scrubby, gnarled trees. Krik begins loading his sling with the clusters of delicate rock fruit. Heskrash, taking a cue from his rival kinsman, tramps down the narrow stair onto the cavern floor. He finds another cache of rock fruit near where Krik is working. [COLOR=dimgray][SIZE=1]OOC: Think grapes. But free-standing and with thorns.
