The first Petals and Thorns was an 800% funded adventure about power and what you do with it. Now the sequel asks what you'll do to keep it. If you didn't get the original, it's included in one of the rewards for a total of $15 off the set. The war for control of the Eastern Frontier is on. The Order of the Lion and the Lunatic Court go to blows almost as soon as the adventure begins, and the party must seek out allies to build a winning coalition for whichever side they've chosen. Who are you willing to make a deal with in order to secure new allies for your side of the war? What seat of power are you willing to promise to potential supporters in exchange for joining your side? Which of your precious few resources are you willing to spend on securing their allegiance, rather than defending your villages from the retribution of your enemies, knowing that every time you rest and recover, the enemy is on the march? If a potential ally demands you do something awful, will you walk away, knowing that your enemies will take up the offer? Will you expend resources quashing that potential ally instead of recruiting them, keeping them out of the war entirely and defending whatever innocents would have been harmed by their schemes, but also wasting valuable time and energy that could've been spent elsewhere? If you can't thwart them, and you know your enemies will assist them, why not be the one to help them, and at least benefit from their villainy? But do you want such a person in your ruling coalition when you're victorious? But if you don't recruit them, will you be victorious at all? What do you believe in - and who are you willing to sacrifice to those beliefs?
