Looking for a complex board game

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Twilight Struggle to rate it, but I do have some suggestions. Castles of Burgundy, Puerto Rico and Xenon Profiteer are games I really enjoy that are a bit more complex with multiple winning strategies. Carcassonne is simpler than Catan but no less enjoyable for that and requires good long-view tactics. None of them are at their best with only two players though. The Lords of Waterdeep game from Wizards was surprisingly good.

Alright folks. I finally decided on Kingdom Builder. I think it is a good choice because it is quite similar to Catan. I guess my friend will like it.
