They learn that Kelkin arrived just before the battle for Gallo's Fend started, took his Sphinx with him and went to the vault to examine the Book of the Eight Lands. Back in their residence, Tinuviel decides to restrain from further contact with Melanie though and asks a maid to bring her the flowers. Cuin mentions that his brother is really bad at deciding what he really wants and heads over to Lady Timor's quarters to give her the rose and spend some time with his Lady.

The next morning, Cuin and Tinuviel escort the Timor cousins to the tournament. Tinuviel tries to play distant with Melanie as he fears that Torrent might get jealous (which she doesn't, because why would she?). When they arrive at the festival ground, Cuin takes the opportunity to talk about Melanie. He learns that she's really in love with Tinuviel, even if Lady Timor tried to explain to her that this relationship would lead her nowhere. Tinuviel doesn't feel ready to be in a committed relationship though, so Cuin puts him aside and tells him to explain his feelings to Melanie, even if that would leave her heartbroken. Tinu feels uneasy at the thought of hurting another woman (he already did that with Katrina...), but he promises to be honest.

To put these thoughts aside, Tinuviel decides to partake in the jousting competition. When they mention that, Randas gets all ranty and tells them that he is usually cooking for the Queen, but he got ditched for some “specialists” who shall prepare the food this evening.
