“Docks it is then.” The pilot grunts, stubbing her cigar on the cab’s rim and stuffing the remains behind her ear. She cracks her knuckles once and the cab lurches forward suddenly, making it a few yards before promptly stalling. “Khyber’s balls… hold on a minute.” She gets out of the car, gives it a good kick, and vaults over the door just as the cab accelerates so violently any unprepared passengers are rammed up against the seats. The Cab arcs forward over the cliff that gives the district its name and begins to plummet down to the docks so fast you suspect the cab may just be freefalling. The cabby for her part is still climbing over the front seat trying to reach the cockpit as the ground looms ever closer. She pauses briefly cursing as her foot gets stuck on some black, sticky substance smeared over the front of the chair… the ground is close now, you can make out the people milling around below. Ogres, goblins, bugbears and other nocturnals mostly, though you make out the occaisional member of the common races milling around. One particularly attentive elven lad looks up and begins to scream… fortunately the cabby has finally reached the front and begun to pull up. The cab begins to slowly alter its trajectory and after a few seconds of sheer terror it becomes obvious your not going to die horribly. There is a horrible bang as the bottom of the cart strikes what may be someone’s chimney and you are still careening along at breakneck speed, but the immediate danger has been passed. As you fly over the docks, drawing ever closer to the blaze Yolanda d’Medani kindly pointed out to you, you notice the rapidly gathering crowds of people running to the blaze. Aside from workers, merchants and sailors running around trying to form bucket-chains or safeguard their wares (a fire in the largely wooden docks was a threat to everyone after all) you also see a not insignificant number of dragonmarked. Unlike the others, the marked appear to be just watching the blaze almost paralysed with some kind of bizarre fascination. The blaze itself has spread to about four houses now, though only one house (presumably the origin point of the explosion) is being thoroughly consumed. The other three buildings (warehouses mostly) are only partially burning and the impromptu fire fighters seem to be concentrating their efforts on these salvageable structures. The original building, which appears to be a warehouse converted into a residency of some description, is being largely left alone. Aside from the small crowd of dragonmarked watching the blaze from a safe distance and the occaisional wary glances from the fire fighters to see if the blaze will spread any further people seem to be pointedly avoiding it. Judging by the way the fire is tearing its way through the building it will probably collapse before the night is done. The cab screeches to a halt just the other side of the crowd. Going inside that deathtrap without some kind of protection would be... unwise to say the least. [sblock=spot 15] It's hard to make out through the smoke and flames, but you definately see shadows inside. Two figures on the upper floor, darting about at lightning speeds. You think they're locked in combat but it's difficult to be sure, in any case the flames don't seem to be impeding them significantly.[/sblock]
