Kratas and Mela convince the Templars investigating that they can assist, and Kratas performs the Last Sight ritual to gather more information. He sees the last sight of several members of the tribe, one of them showing a strange woman huddled over the beds of one of the children (he noted that the woman looked odd, her arms too long for her body), and the other showing the actual face of the person who killed him. The woman who killed him looked like a younger version of the Sorcerer Queen Abalach Re.

Mela, after rolling extremely well on her diplomacy check, convinced one of the Templars to tell her everything that he knew about the murders. The Templar pleads with Mela to keep this quiet, as King Tithian is worried that this may be the first blows in a potential war with Raam.

The party immediately decides to head to Raam, knowing that the murders are a message to Dryder and his group.

Arriving near Raam, the party learns that the city is in a state of disarray. Along the way, he informs the party of the situation in Raam.

The Sorcerer Queen’s death has left a power vacuum. The city’s Nawabs, or nobles, have broken off into three large groups controlled by Nawab Maarham, Nawab Vishna, and Nawab M’Ke. These three fight an almost constant war for control of the farmland and countryside surrounding Raam. Within the city, one of the Sorcerer Queen’s former Templars has named herself Grand Vizier, gathering a significant number of the city’s Mansabdars (city guard) to protect her in the Queen’s former palace. Almost all of the Queen’s former Templars and high Templars (called Kuatagha) are under her sway. Within the Ghost city (a small, ramshackle community that rests outside the walls of the city), slaves and the lower caste, known as the Unclean, have joined together, frequently raiding merchants and warehouses within the city. Rumor has it they are led by a freed slave, a former gladiator, whom they name The Ghost (due to the fact that he leaves no trace behind when he raids). Finally, a cult has sprung up, seemingly overnight. They call themselves the Saviors of Dregoth. The cult members speak with strange accents and wear strange robes that cover their entire bodies, including their faces. They preach of their God, a being known as Dregoth, that was awakened when the Sorcerer Queen was killed.

After accepting Rogil’s hospitality, the party agrees to petition the slaves of the Ghost City in an attempt to strengthen Nawab M’Ke’s army. The following day, they travel to the Ghost City to meet up with Nanda Shatri, a shopkeeper (and secretly the leader of the Veiled Alliance in Raam). Dryder has to leave the shop as he suddenly begins feeling an uncontrollable rage in Nanda’s presence. Nanda guides the party to a shop in the Coins district, where they encounter their old companion, Ela. Ela tells the party that she and Tor Val are actually the Ghost (she’s the brains, he’s the brawn, as she puts it). She agrees to meet up with Rogil and work out an alliance.

Over the next two days, the group has a friendly reunion with Tor Val, and Dryder begins to worry about the flashes of rage he feels as he travels through the city.

Two days later, the group has gathered in a small shop in the Coins district. She feels that if they are going to assist Nawab M’Ke, then she and Ela need to be on the citizens’ council that Rogil is proposing. Truvo angrily demands that the Ghost return the items he stole from the M’Ke warehouses. Tor Val looks like he’s ready to smash the arrogant Nawab when Kratas steps in and calms things down.

As the negotiations continue, Karne is keeping a watch on the outside of the shop. He notices a woman watching the shop very carefully, so he gets Gundrek’s attention. Gundrek notices the woman (who looks remarkably like Abalach Re) just as she notices him. She smiles at him, then winks and waves just as a cart rumbles between Gundrek and her. As the cart moves away, the woman is gone, but Gundrek notices a large group of people rushing the shop and yells an alarm.

The battle is fierce. Two separate groups attack the shop. One group, the party attacks, while the other group is held off by Ela, Tor Val, Rogil, Truvo and Nanda. Dryder notices that he feels rage toward the female assassins attacking them. As the ambush reaches its climax, Dryder suddenly springs at Nanda, grabbing her around the throat and holding his blade at her. The party talks him down, and he gives his sword to Katrie, who notices that as soon as she picks it up, she, too feels the rage. It is at this point that the party realizes that there is something very wrong with the sword.

Dryder realizes that the sword may be attuned to people that have ties to Abalach Re.
