Many were absorbed into the Democracy long ago, but some races still remain independent – or, worse, hostile to humanity.</p><p> The number of alien variations is almost infinite – if you can imagine it, it exists somewhere in the galaxy. From Canphorites to Lodinites, from the Blue Devils of Hades to the Fireflies of Medina. Many of these alien species are unsuitable for use as player characters, but that still leaves thousands of aliens to choose from. </p><p> You decide what your alien’s species looks like, how it acts, and what unusual features is possesses. You might be unique, or one of a small number of members of your species, or your species might be widespread. You could be fiercely religious, entirely untrustworthy, or driven to follow the laws of your people.</p><p>It’s a given that your race has developed interstellar travel and has had exposure to Man and his Democracy, and your species may well be part of the Democracy – or some from a frontier world out near the Rim or close to the Core, far from the Democracy’s control.</p><p> </p><p>Alien Racial Traits</p><p><strong>Flexible:</strong> Aliens are even more varied than the human race. They get a +2 bonus to any two ability scores.</p><p><strong>Base Size</strong>: Medium</p><p><strong>Base Speed</strong>: 30 feet</p><p><strong>Vision</strong>: Normal</p><p><strong>Racial Qualities</strong>: As an alien, your physical makeup is vastly different from other aliens. Choose two racial qualities from those available below.</p><p><strong>Languages</strong>: Terran, choice of one other</p><p><strong>Average Height</strong>: Varies</p><p><strong>Average Weight</strong>: Varies</p><p> </p><p>Alien Racial Qualities</p><p>You gain two of the following racial qualities of your choice. Alternatively, if you have access to the <strong>Pathfinder Advanced Race Guide</strong>, you can choose any racial trait whose value does not exceed 4 race points.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Random Racial Qualities</strong></p><p>If you want to play a truly unique individual, consider rolling to randomly determine the racial qualities of your alien race. Roll 1d100, then consult the table.</p><p></p><p><strong>Racial Quality Descriptions</strong></p><p><strong>Adonis </strong>Your race is overtly beautiful or has other exceptionally attractive qualities, but you can occasionally be arrogant or brash.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain Skill Focus (Diplomacy) and a +2 racial bonus to Diplomacy checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Adrenaline</strong> Your race has a distinct appearance when excited that warns others away or draws them in, such as glowing veins, rippling or contracting muscles.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> Like an Olympian, you can enter battle focus for up to 2 rounds per day. If you become a member of the Cult of Olympians (and therefore join the Olympian Career), these rounds stack.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Aquatic </strong>Strong swimmers with webbed feet and gills are predominate members of your race.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain a swim speed equal to your land speed, a +8 racial bonus to swim checks, and a +2 racial bonus to Constitution checks made to hold your breath. You can also hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to four times your Constitution score.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Bionic</strong> Your race believes in extreme modifications and upgrades or is robotic in nature.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain Skill Focus [Knowledge (Engineering)] and a +2 racial bonus to Knowledge (Engineering) checks. You also have the appearance of any other racial quality of your choice, but not its benefit. That quality is entirely mechanical in nature.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Chameleon</strong> Your skin changes color to blend in with your background. </p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain Skill Focus (Stealth) and a +2 racial bonus to Stealth checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Crystalline </strong> Most races are carbon-based, but your biology is crystalline, making you much more resilient, but fragile.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You have Tech Resistance equal to 11 + your class levels.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Eyestalks </strong> Having your eyes on the end of stalks may look unusual, but it greatly enhances your all-round vision.</p><p> <strong>Benefit: </strong> You gain lowlight vision and a +2 racial bonus to Perception checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Fearsome</strong> You have tusks, spikes, or other dangerous looking features.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain Skill Focus (Intimidate) and a +2 racial bonus to Intimidate checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Fur </strong> Your thick fur protects you against the elements.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You have cold resistance 5, electricity resistance 5, and fire resistance 5.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Gorrilla </strong>You’re bigger than big and stronger than strong, with inhumanly large muscles.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> Choose 1: You can wield weapons up to 1 size larger without penalty or you gain a climb speed equal to your land speed and a +8 racial bonus to climb checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Hooves</strong> Your race is descended from a creature similar to Earth’s horse.</p><p><strong> Benefit:</strong> Your speed becomes 35 feet and you can charge after moving at least 5 feet.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Large </strong>You come from an unusually large race of aliens or you are exceptionally large even for your race.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> Your size becomes large and you gain the giant subtype, but you take a -2 penalty to 1 of your ability scores.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Long Lived</strong> Your race lives for much longer than most.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain a +2 racial bonus to Constitution checks to become stable and you automatically succeed on a natural roll of 19 or 20.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Natural Defense </strong>Members of your race are hardier than most others; with a unique metabolism and nervous system.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain a +1 natural armor bonus and +1 hit point per hit die.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Natural Weapon </strong>Members of your race have a natural weapon.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain your choice of a bite attack (1d4/x2) or 2 claw attacks (1d6/x2) with which you are proficient. You can take this quality twice, gaining both a bite and two claw attacks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Prehensile Limb</strong> You have an extra functional limb that allows you to perform more actions.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> As a swift action, you can draw or stow a single object on your person. You also get a +2 racial bonus to Sleight of Hand checks.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Psychic </strong>Your race has a minor latent psionic ability.</p><p><strong> Benefit:</strong> Choose one of the following fields of study: Energy Transference (fire only), Holography, Psychology, or Research. You gain a 0 level and a 1st level procedure from that field that you can use naturally once per day each.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Reptilian </strong> Your scaly skin gives away your reptilian heritage.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You gain a +1 natural armor bonus and fire resistance 5.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Scavenger </strong>Your scavenging ancestors, belied by your ragged, sharp teeth, gave you a cast-iron stomach.</p><p><strong>Benefit:</strong> You are immune to poison effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus to Fortitude.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Small </strong> You come from an unusually small race of aliens or you are exceptionally small even for your race.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> Your size becomes Small and you gain a +2 dodge bonus to AC.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Tail</strong> You have a tail which you can use to your advantage, providing you with extra balance.</p><p><strong> Benefit:</strong> You gain a +2 racial bonus to Acrobatics checks and a +4 racial bonus to your Combat Maneuver Defense when resisting a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Two Heads </strong>You have a second head somewhere on your body. Its usefulness varies.</p><p> <strong>Benefit:</strong> You are immune to sleep effects and get a +2 racial saving throw bonus to Will.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Vestigial Wings</strong> Your race is descended from a flying creature.
