Natural Bond & the Beastmaster PRC

How does the Natural bond feat work with the Beastmaster's secondary and beyond companions? Does it effect each one? Does it effect them individualy? Does it only effect the first one (And only if the character doesn't already have a full druid level at that point)?

Yes and yes.
Natural Bond is practically a pre-req for the PrC. Beastmaster's secondary (etc) companions are so gimp without it as to be unworthy of taking more than one BM level. The Beastmaster's +3 from lvl one doesn't work with his secondary...

Thus a Ranger 10 / Beastmaster 10's companions would be 18th (with a companion from the -3 List!!), 10th, 7th, 4th.... so IMHO, the extra companions are barely worth the lvls. They're more of a coolness factor than anything else. And without Natural Bond, the extras would be 7, 4, and 1... bleh.

However, taking 1 lvl of Beastmaster is a no brainer... even for a Druid :D

Any extra animal companions are somewhat of an RP effect, but they are also usefull for scouting, messanging, and other tasts, and they're still not bad, and if the Natural bond feat works on all of them, then yes indeed it is fantastic.

Any other thoughts?

Oops.

According to the Complete Adventurer errata just published, "If a character has multiple animal companions, the bonus granted by this feat applies to one of them." Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

Yeah, I just found that out. Clears it up. Oh well, I think that's more balanced anyway. I would guess you can take it a second time for a second animal...

House rule time: Ignore the Complete Adventurer Errata regarding Natural Bond only applying to a single companion..

So it is written, so it is done. ;)

Just pretend you don't have Internet access and therefore couldn't read the errata, or better yet you weren't even made aware of its existence. If you didn't see it, clearly it didn't happen.
