Now the world of Aldea returns in a new edition using the Adventure Game Engine (AGE), the popular rules that power the Fantasy AGE and Dragon Age RPGs. This beautiful, full-color book contains everything needed to create and tell stories of heroic envoys of the Sovereign’s Finest as they protect their homeland of Aldis from threats like the shadowy Kingdom of Kern and the fanatical Theocracy of Jarzon, as well as monsters and artifacts from the cruel reign of the Sorcerer Kings. Aided by the rhydan—their psychic animal allies—the champions of the Kingdom of the Blue Rose safeguard the light of the world against the power of Shadow.

Will you answer the Sovereign’s call?

Knights of the Dinner Table #242

Magazine & Comic

By Kenzer & Co

----------------------------------------------

BOARD & CARD GAMES

Vast: The Crystal Caverns

1-5 players, ages 10+, 75+ minutes

By Leder Games

The dragon has been asleep for many long years. In that time, the cave under which it slumbered has changed greatly…Goblins and strange monsters have filled its gloomy depths and there are whispers that the cave itself has begun thinking, shifting, and growing evermore dangerous.

Still, stories of peril rarely overshadow the rumors of riches. And riches there may be… For where a dragon slumbers, there also lies a fiercely guarded treasure. Fortunately for the slumbering beast, malevolent crystals fill the cave’s rooms with spectral light, hiding the entrance to the immeasurable treasure trove. Many have given their lives to the search and over the years the rumors have faded to legend.

But the most courageous adventurers will not be discouraged by bloodshed. On this day, a knight steps into the darkness, her gloved hand gripping the hilt of her sword. Her years of quests--all of the victories and defeats--have led to this one final adventure. Knowing the kingdom can never truly be at peace with the dragon beneath the cave, she has come to make a final stand. Little does she know that she will awake everything that slumbers in the shadows… and begin the final battle in the darkness.

Enter the world of Vast: The Crystal Caverns!

Vast takes you and your friends into the torch light of a classic cave-crawling adventure, built on the concept of total asymmetry. Gone are days of the merry band of travelers fighting off evil. In Vast, you will become part of a new legend... Any part you wish!

Play as the classic, daring Knight, the chaotic Goblin horde, the colossal, greedy Dragon, or even the Cave itself — powerful, brooding, and intent on crushing the living things that dare to disturb its gloomy depths. Each role has its own powers, pieces, and paths to victory...and there can be only one winner.

As the ultimate asymmetric board game, Vast: The Crystal Caverns provides a limitless adventure, playable again and again as you and your friends explore the four different roles in different combinations. Play one-on-one in a race to the death between the Knight and the Goblins, or add in the Dragon and the Cave for deeper and more epic experiences, different every time.

Munchkin: X-Men

3-4 players, ages 10+, 60-120+ minutes

By Steve Jackson Games / USAopoly

Join the X-Men on a thrilling adventure to defend mankind from renegade mutants. Munchkin X-Men combines Marvel’s beloved collection of X-Men comics with the role-playing fun of Munchkin.

In the game, players take on the role of students attending Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters and team up with Professor X, Wolverine, and more super-charged mutants to take down the likes of Sabertooth, Juggernaut, and the almighty Magneto. The game includes 128 Door and Treasure cards, four player Role cards, four level trackers, game rules, and a custom die.

Saboteur: The Duel

1-2 players, ages 8+, 30+ minutes

By Mayfair Games

Saboteur: Duel is a standalone version of the famous card game Saboteur for one and two players. When playing alone, you want to collect as much gold as possible by digging new tunnels in the mine; when playing with an opponent, you'll just want to collect more than that player, but naturally your opponent will try to block your progression by all means.

In this card game, you play path or action cards. The path cards form a maze in the direction of the six goal cards, which contain a variable number of gold stones. The action cards are used to hinder your opponent or to help you to repair broken equipment. A greedy troll also lurks in the mine, and you will have to pay him to progress and he doesn't give back any change!

Portal of Heroes

2-5 players, ages 10+, 45+ minutes

By Mayfair Games

The portals of Molthar have opened! The players travel through the portal into a world of a type that you know only through folklore and fairy tales. By collecting magic pearls and trading them in a timely fashion for fantastic and powerful character cards, you draw ever closer to victory — but only the one who first manages to gather twelve insignias of power will save Molthar and win the game.

At the start of Portal of Heroes, four pearl cards and two character cards lie face up in the middle of the table. The rest of the character and pearl cards are set nearby in separate decks. Each player receives their own player portal and places it face up in front of them.

Each turn, you can take three actions from a menu of four options: Take a pearl card into your hand, replace all of the pearl cards in the display, place a character card on your portal, or activate a character. You can perform any of the four possible actions multiple times, and in any order. To activate a character, you must play a specific combination of pearl cards from your hand onto the character card. Activated characters grant you power points, diamonds, or special abilities. Once you have activated characters this way with twelve or more power points, finish the round so that everyone has played the same number of turns. Whoever has the most power points wins.

Arcadia Quest: Inferno

2-4 players, ages 13+, 60-120 + minutes

By Cool Mini Or Not

Inferno is a standalone expansion to Arcadia Quest. It is 100% compatible with the original base game and introduces four new Guilds: Sharks, Tigers, Crows, and Serpents. It features new types of heroes, such as Alchemists and Gladiators.

There is a new branching campaign system, and the storyline revolves around the guilds descending into a fiery abyss. There are Brimstone cards that make the terrain risky to navigate, which operate similarly to the Tombstone cards from Arcadia Quest: Beyond the Grave.

A new mechanism called "Damnation" will tempt the heroes with powerful weapons that can corrupt the characters over time or change the behavior of nearby monsters. There are also Angels, which are allied characters for the heroes to rescue, escort or assist. Working with the Angels can affect the branching campaign path system and even allow the player to recruit them for use in later missions.

Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia

1-5 players, ages 13+, 20-45+ minutes

By Cool Mini Or Not

Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia is a fast-paced, dice-driven dungeon crawl board game set in the Arcadia Quest universe where players control Heroes that explore three levels of a dungeon filled with monsters, traps and treasure! Bosses, special rooms and countless surprises await the Heroes, but only one can be the first to reach the final level and become the undisputed champion of the Realm!

In Masmorra, players get to roll and re-roll a pool of Dice that guides their actions for their turn, and a unique dungeon is created as players lay down tiles while exploring it and fighting off monsters that are presented by special dice! But Heroes must also be aware of opponent Heroes, as they'll be able to use cards to disrupt their carefully laid-out plans!

XenoShyft: Dreadmire

1-4 players, ages 14+, 30-60+ minutes

By Col Mini Or Not

You survived the horrors of the Hive — now venture onto the new world of Genesis VII, a lush but deadly marsh planet featuring an entirely new ecosystem of horrors to overcome.

XenoShyft: Dreadmire, which can be played as a standalone game or mixed with assets from XenoShyft: Onslaught, brings a new XenoShyft experience to your tabletop, with eight new troop types, 20 new item types, and more than 40 fearsome new enemy types.

The XenoShyft game system combines classic deck-building and resource management with fast-paced combat and unique "base defense" elements. As the game progresses, each player builds up their deck of troop and item cards, which they will in turn use to defend the base against incoming enemies in deadly combat.

It’s A Kind Of Magic

Vikings Gone Wild Expansion

By Lucky Duck Games

It's a Kind of Magic contains 110 cards, including a new card type: Spells. Will you know how to dominate the nature and the elements, and worse still the anger of your father Ouranos, to realize the planet of your dreams? A cunning and intuitive game where deduction and cooperation will be the key words.

To manage to create your planet, and to bring him the life, you will have to think together, communicate subtly, trust the other players or understand of instinct.

The purpose of the game is to manage to create together a planet.

To have a finished and thus livable planet, it will be necessary to pass by various creations: rainbow, river, fish, etc, and completed by element cards : earth, air, fire, water.

A turn of game decomposes into two phases: the divination and the creation.

During the phase of divination, every player chooses in secret a card of his hand and spends his tokens energy to give information, exchange cards, etc.

Then, in the phase of creation, every player reveals his card in turn order and verifies if it can be involvement.

The game ends when all the cards were played or if the planet is completed.

Rum & Bones: Second Tide

2-6 players, ages 14+, 30-75+ minutes

By Cool Mini Or Not

Avast ye pirates! Gather your crews and set sail for adventure on the high seas in Rum & Bones: Second Tide!

Based on online MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) style games, Rum & Bones has 2-6 players taking control of legendary pirate heroes, each with unique powers and abilities, as their crews fight over Davy Jones' legendary treasure!

Players each control up to five heroes at any time, moving them across the game board in an attempt to destroy various key features on their opponents' ship. Victory is obtained by destroying enough of these features. Your heroes are not alone, however, as your crew also consists of deckhands and bosuns who, while not controlled by the player, will work on a simple AI to wreak havoc on the enemy!

Of course, what would pirates be without plunder? And in Rum & Bones the most sought after treasure are Davy Jones' mythical pieces of eight! Players amass these powerful coins during gameplay to unleash devastating abilities and attacks from their Heroes, crushing all enemies before them until only they remain!

This game is both a stand-alone and compatible as an expansion to Rum & Bones. In Rum & Bones: Second Tide, 2 to 6 players will take control of one of two deadly pirate crews: The mysterious and monstrous Deep Lords, who seek to claim Davy Jones’ treasure in an effort to flood the world and reshape it to their liking, or the Marea de la Muerte¸ a crew of ruthless gold-seeking Spanish cutthroats who will stop at nothing to claim the treasure for their own greed!

Players control teams of three to five heroes, depending on the number of players, each with various and unique powers and abilities. These Heroes are drawn from five different classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses:

· Captains: Jack-of-all-Trade Heroes who specialize in buffing other Heroes.

· Brutes: The toughest of the tough, Brutes can take a ton of punishment and only get stronger for doing so!

· Gunner: Ranged damage dealers, Gunners have the lowest HP of all classes, but can also dish out the most hurt.

· Swashbucklers: Like Gunners, Swashbucklers specialize in dealing damage, but prefer the up-close-and-personal approach.

· Quartermaster: While they don't deal the most damage, Quartermasters make up for it in raw utility: specializing in healing and buffing Heroes, and also enhancing your Deckhands and Bosuns!

The most notable change to gameplay is their new "dynamic Leveling System". Now each Hero begins the game with their Basic Attack skill card. As they gain Coins, which are obtained from KO'ing enemies and Objectives, they can use those Coins to buy new skills, as well as level up existing skills! Also, they've introduced a new "Alternating Activation" method of play where players will take turns activating 1 Hero (or their Crew), and then their opponent will do the same, continuing back and forth until everyone has gone.

High Treason: The Trial of Louis Rel

2 players, ages 13+, 30-45+ minutes

By Victory Point Games

Canada’s westward expansion was very different than that of the United States. In the U.S., conflict in the westward movement was between the White Man and the Native Indian, and a common language united U.S. settlers. Language, however, has divided Canada ever since General Wolfe united the country by arms at the Plains of Abraham.

Canada’s settlers pushed westward, led by fur-traders and trappers who were predominately French Catholic. These pioneers intermarried with the Native Indians, producing a new race and a new culture – the Métis.

When the Canadian government made treaties with Native Indians, the Métis, being neither Native nor White, did not receive any comparable consideration. Wanting to protect their rights against the remote Anglo-Protestant government in eastern Canada, resentment grew into rebellion in Manitoba's Red River Valley in 1869. Louis Riel led this resistance and forced the government into compromise, resulting in the Manitoba Act.

Due to his participation in the rebellion and in the execution of English Protestant, Thomas Scott, Riel himself was forced to flee to the United States. While residing there, Riel obtained American citizenship.

When trouble between the Métis and the government occurred further west, in Saskatchewan, the Métis recalled their former savior to lead them. Louis Riel and Gabriel Dumont, a local Métis leader, initially worked toward a peaceful solution for their grievances. However, this movement eventually grew into a resistance, known as the North West Resistance. The Conservative government in Ottawa amassed a military force to crush it, and finally did at the Battle of Batoche, 9 – 12 May, 1885. Gabriel Dumont fled to the United States; tried and hanged for High Treason was Louis Riel.

There are many reasons why the first Riel resistance succeeded and the second failed. The westward expansion of the railroad allowed the federal government to deploy superior forces rapidly to the field. Riel himself embraced unorthodox religious views – views that alienated the Catholic Church and its devout supporters who were the key to his first resistance’s success.

Now you enter the courtroom during those five fateful days of July, 1885, when the future of a country hung in the balance, and the defendant, Louis Riel, hanged in the aftermath.

----------------------------------------------

MINIATURES & MINIATURE GAMES

Battlegroup Rule Book

World War 2 Miniature Rules

By Plastic Soldier Company

New hardback edition of the Battlegroup WW2 rules system.

Not so much a second edition as a reprinting of the main rules now that Kursk and the mini rulebook have sold out, but with an extra campaign, some datacards and a pulling together of all the special rules and generic scenarios from all our published campaign supplements.

Whilst this remains the same Battlegroup game, there have been 3 small rules alterations. Munchkin: X-Men 3-4 players, ages 10+, 60-120+ minutes By Steve Jackson Games / USAopoly Join the X-Men on a thrilling adventure to defend mankind from renegade mutants. Munchkin X-Men combines Marvel’s beloved collection of X-Men comics with the role-playing fun of Munchkin. The game includes 128 Door and Treasure cards, four player Role cards, four level trackers, game rules, and a custom die. Saboteur: The Duel 1-2 players, ages 8+, 30+ minutes By Mayfair Games Saboteur: Duel is a standalone version of the famous card game Saboteur for one and two players. Portal of Heroes 2-5 players, ages 10+, 45+ minutes By Mayfair Games The portals of Molthar have opened! Arcadia Quest: Inferno 2-4 players, ages 13+, 60-120 + minutes By Cool Mini Or Not Inferno is a standalone expansion to Arcadia Quest. Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia 1-5 players, ages 13+, 20-45+ minutes By Cool Mini Or Not Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia is a fast-paced, dice-driven dungeon crawl board game set in the Arcadia Quest universe where players control Heroes that explore three levels of a dungeon filled with monsters, traps and treasure! XenoShyft: Dreadmire 1-4 players, ages 14+, 30-60+ minutes By Col Mini Or Not You survived the horrors of the Hive — now venture onto the new world of Genesis VII, a lush but deadly marsh planet featuring an entirely new ecosystem of horrors to overcome. The XenoShyft game system combines classic deck-building and resource management with fast-paced combat and unique "base defense" elements. As the game progresses, each player builds up their deck of troop and item cards, which they will in turn use to defend the base against incoming enemies in deadly combat. Rum & Bones: Second Tide 2-6 players, ages 14+, 30-75+ minutes By Cool Mini Or Not Avast ye pirates! These Heroes are drawn from five different classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses: · Captains: Jack-of-all-Trade Heroes who specialize in buffing other Heroes. High Treason: The Trial of Louis Rel 2 players, ages 13+, 30-45+ minutes By Victory Point Games Canada’s westward expansion was very different than that of the United States. ---------------------------------------------- MINIATURES & MINIATURE GAMES Battlegroup Rule Book World War 2 Miniature Rules By Plastic Soldier Company New hardback edition of the Battlegroup WW2 rules system.
