The PDF will be available for free. The hardcopy versions seem to be just for those who want a physical copy, either because they prefer physical copies of rulebooks or because they're being printed to order and won't be reprinted (and thus will be a collectible). From the FAQ on Paizo's website: [HQ]Will I get a free PDF if I preorder? PDF editions of the Pathfinder Playtest products will be available for free on August 2, whether you've preordered or not. [/HQ] I didn't go into much detail about a lot of the Pathfinder stuff (and probably won't in my columns outside of major announcements) because there's so much news about the new edition and EN World has been reporting on new announcements pretty much the moment they're made. That's why I always link the Pathfinder 2nd Edition news page and the compiled wiki, which will always have a lot more details. Also, the Amazon fulfillment I linked to is separate from the Paizo version that the other EN World article on the story links to. Paizo's only printing as many orders as they get by the May 1st deadline plus however many the book distributors have also ordered, with those copies going to Amazon, book stores, and other retail outlets (some game stores may get it that way as well, depending on how the store handles wholesale).
