When the catastrophy hit, </p><p>Conrad was in the process of saddling up his horse Cobalt before he oversaw the shift change of </p><p>the night watch. He managed to rouse most of the fort, and aided the procession of refuges west </p><p>to Sterngate.</p><p></p><p> Conrad's sister, Raquel Garrison was living at the fort with her two daughters Lelia and Nadia, </p><p>working as a magewright blacksmith. Her husband Leif and her son Roain were both soldiers in the </p><p>5th infantry. They were on watch duty that evening. None of the soldiers on that shift have </p><p>been seen since the night before Day of Mourning. She convinced Conrad to move with her, saying "His duty to his family </p><p>came before his duty to his nation."</p><p></p><p> With less marketable skils than his sister Raquel, Conrad has been staying home in their small </p><p>stone house in the Broken Arch neighbourhood of Middle Dura, and taking care of his two neices. </p><p>His sense of routine and order stick with him from his days in the military, and he retains a </p><p>regement of training and physical fitness. </p><p></p><p> His fellows around the neighbourhood know him as "The Lieutenant", and are quick to call on him </p><p>for help or a favor as required. With the influx of Draask bullies, and criminals from Lower Dura </p><p>over the last three years, combined with fewer than average patrols from the city watch, Conrad </p><p>has felt the need to set up a neighbourhood patrol.
