[QUOTE="Binder Fred, post: 4184992, member: 63746"] Just to note that this would be his actions if the world/other characters stand quite still in the meanwhile. Frankly, I'd be dissapointed (and probably Baran too, just a little bit) if he told the Ul boy "Take care of things while I'm gone" and Ulfang actually did *that*. <Fred reads further down the post> Oh. We're on the same page apparently. How embarrassing. Shutting up now. He's not really a druid-like wood worshipper. Baran is fist of all a *builder* : he loves clever/well crafted/cyclopean artifacts, buildings, war machines. Wood in perticular calls to him for its challenges, it's rebelious aspect in the Broadbeam-Longbeard dichotomy, but most of all because of it's "mortality", fading so soon into rot and decay. He's the dwarven equivalent of a sand painter, really. Independance is a Baran trait. Baran is a dwarf; therefore independance is a dwarven trait. Got to love syllogism. :) Really though, I'm not quite sure what you're saying here : that no dwarf would act this way? Moria is presently full of dwarves that have resolved not to depend on unreliable non-dwarves, for anything. That's not Baran's reason for acting this way, of course : he just considers it a purely personal matter which does not require more than one person to accomplish. Now if the thieves headed into the woods and he knew tracking skills could help things considerately - well - my character might be in for a very unconfortable discussion/favor asking with a certain female elf. <evil masochistic grin> <Fred reads further down-thread until he hits Shayuri's post> BLOODy mumble mumble grumble. Shutting up again. Plain wooden rollers it is. (we'll keep the crystal ones for when it's restored to its rightful place ;) Binder Fred, faithful echo of thoughts already voiced since 1971 (the hallmark of every good student, don't you know ;).
