[QUOTE="Morrow, post: 297048, member: 301"] Interesting problem. If the situation results in a battle you're likely to have casualties on both sides. Battles between low level characters can be pretty unpredictable, they have access to spells like sleep and entangle that can incapacitate foes over an area, but don't yet have the ability to resist such effects. What happens if the Sunless Citadel group pops off a couple lucky sleep spells? Do they use the opportunity to escape, or do they kill their opponents while they have the chance? Neither option is going to get you to the desired outcome. Are the players likely to take it if you offer them an out? Some parties will go down swinging before they do anything that could be interpreted as backing down. The common enemy idea is probably your best bet. Introduce something that represents a threat to both groups before they can start fighting each other. The psionic horses are a good idea, but their probably not enough of a threat for such a large combined group. I suppose you could just throw lots of twigblights at them. In any event, while the two parties are fighting monster X Thrimdrul and a bunch of psionically controlled kobalds slip past them and head for town carrying the ominously glowing dragonstone. Perhaps the party has to make low DC will saves to shake off the dragonstone's influence. You can only hope that they will all put aside their differences to stop Thrimdrul. If Thrimdrul and company can get close enough to town, the characters could be facing a bunch of mind controlled villagers along with Thrimdrul and the Kobalds. And if they survive perhaps the Sunless Citadel party can negotiate a lenient sentence in exchange for performing some dangerous mission for the local ruler. The Of Sound Mind party could be asked to accompany them (for a small reward) to ensure their good behavior. Morrow btw, it was good to run into you yesterday. Sorry I didn't have time to chat.
