Thanks for the feedback! It's got me thinking some more, and there are a few other things that I forgot to mention that I have to work with. First, in addition to the two psionic horses, there are 10 other loose horses in the area (those of the SC party and the constable's group) that could have possibly be psionically 'impregnated' as well, by Thrimdrul when he passed by earlier in the week. Second, when we ended the last two sessions, it was about midnight with one full day left before the summer solstice. If the midsummer fruit from the Gulthias tree below is to be brought to town to be sold at the solstice fair, the goblins should be on their way right about now, which would be a convenient excuse for having them pop in mid-battle. Finally, if this happens, I may even be able to have Belak, his supplicants, and/or some twig blights or bugbears join or replace the goblins since they've already been hammered so hard by the first party and kobolds*. The good thing about this is that with a bit of work I could easily tweak the battle to be a good challenge for the combined group (including the NPCs). Of course, this would be a fairly satisfactory climax to the adventure and would have the added benefit of giving the SC party points with the law that could help them negotiate a lenient sentence as you suggested. *Or perhaps now that Thrimdrul/Dragonstone is in control of what remains of the tribe, he's broken from the service of Belak. This would leave him free to be a good reoccurring villain, which would be cool. So many possibilities :) No problem, I just want to say hello since I recognized you.
