Sure thing. I’ll put in a spoiler for those planning on playing the game.
The PCs were all killed by one of the Main NPCs - Shemeska - but because they are caught in a multi-versal glitch, every time they die they re-appear and are again drawn back to Shemeska. She kills some incarnations, traps others and the current incarnations she sends off on a mission to try and use them. The planar glitch is caused by a vast troop of Modrons that got separated and trapped during the last Modron March and are trapped in the confusing/illusion filled realm of the beholder god Gzemnid. The confusion of the modrons and way they transfer those thoughts is causing a contagion of errant belief causing the planar glitch. Effectively the volume of trapped Modron’s collective mistaken belief is causing reality to warp. The party can free the Modrons but that could cause the errant beliefs to be absorbed into the wider Modron world view potentially replicating the error. The party can use their experiences of the outlands and Sigil (conveniently recorded in their accompanying mimir) to reset the Modrons viewpoint and stabilize the anomaly. Albeit influenced by the PCs experienced. The PCs have the opportunity to change the way the whole Modron species view the multi-verse and by extension how they behave towards it. It’s a pretty cool concept.
So hopefully you can see it’s getting into the real meat of what makes Planescape unique in particular the power of belief.
