He explains that by keying Clare’s study to his mirror, he can open a portal to Clare’s library, but Clare cannot open a portal to his. After a few moments, a male Svirfneblin steps through the portal that Laramon has opened. He is old, even for a Gnome, but he is still nimble and quick; he is dressed in fine, purple, silk clothes, and possessed of impeccably polite manners. He gathers the four books, multiple pages of notes, the map, and the note from Laramon, and bows gracefully as he steps back through the portal to Clare’s library.</p><p></p><p><strong>As the portal closes, Laramon claps his hands mockingly.</strong><span style="color: red"> “Bravo! Bravo! What a splendid performance! My boy, your new Mistress is one of a kind. I would not have DARED such a deception, had I been in her place. Dame Clare is truly a creature of extreme audacity.”</span></p><p></p><p><strong>Nelvandra chuckles, as she catches on,</strong><span style="color: purple"> “That Gnome was really my sister?”</span></p><p></p><p>Laramon nods disapprovingly, although he wears the faintest hint of a smile.</p><p></p><p><strong>Laramon:</strong><span style="color: red"> “Now that she’s seen my library, I guess we’re even. It’s warded against teleportation, but an Arch Magus such as her will circumvent those wards, given enough time. I suppose I should expect an unannounced visit from her, at some point. I see that the mental links that you and Nelvandra carry are permanent, my boy. When you have a chance, tell her something for me: point out that her deception was immediately detected, and that I consider such behavior quite rude. Further rudeness will be met with stringent measures. I am a man of patience, and even of tolerance, but I will not be taken advantage of.”</span></p><p></p><p>Laramon then proceeds to use his mirror to scry the location of the party; in under a minute, because he is so familiar with the party members, Laramon is able to bring up the image of the overlook campsite in the mirror’s surface. He tells Respen that it would be wise to contact the party via a <strong><em>Sending</em></strong> and let them know that he is coming. Respen agrees, and sends the following message to Sylvar:</p><p></p><p><strong>Respen:</strong><span style="color: blue"> “Hello, good buddy. I’ve got quite a story to tell you. Don’t move, Laramon is opening a portal with his mirror. Bringing friend with me.”</span></p><p></p><p><strong>Laramon:</strong><span style="color: red"> “Be careful, my boy. I won’t be leaving this portal open. When you and your fiance step through, you will be taking a one-way trip. The place where they’re camping looks rough, wild, and harsh.
