The so called roof of the ancient tree is open to the night sky. A five-&-a-half-foot (twelve inch thick) wooden wall encircles the perimeter of the roof. Several wooden benches are spaced along the wall giving a ‘perch’ for those of shorter stature. The night is filled with a mixture of sounds. The sound of goblinoids yelling mixed with the clash of steel. The crackle of fire intermixed with a strange clicking sound. Once you peek over the wall a disturbing vision meets your gaze. A mix of bugbears, goblins, & hobgoblins numbering over two score march on the tree. Two giant fire beetles, guided by their bugbear riders, spray burning liquid on the thorny growths that cover the ground; making room for the advancing horde. A small band from this group has engaged several skeletal hobgoblins that have emerged from the tree. None seem to notice the group on top of the tree. Yaggl takes a small vial out of his robes’ the liquid within seems to be a mixture of red, orange, & magenta (all of a bright hue), “Once I break this, a flare will go to signal our ride. Of course, it will also draw unwanted attention to use. Someone check the wall to make sure there are no breechable areas.”
