Mattie comes up with paper and pen and for the cost of a glass of good wine, Felderman sets to work. He says he would prefer not to perform the song as he finds it depressing and is unsure of all the words. He does his best to write it out for you. The story is a simple one about a Shiv carter who never lets another ride, the only thing 'good' about him is in the back of the cart you don't have a prayer of riding with him no matter what your need. On a cold winter night he passes by three people needing rides a hungry child and old woman and a man running late on his way to meet a lady. Later, he wrecks his vehicle in the snow and injures his leg. He is stuck in a snow bank on a deserted street when three people pass him by. The first to pass him is a priest on his way to pray. There is some word play here on the priest's fear that he might be 'prey' to a rouse with the shiv really just trying to lure him in close for a robbery. The priest continues on without a second glance. Damning the poor Shiv. Next a harlot comes by looking to make a few coins, but the Shiv has no money to pay. More word play on 'ride' as the harlot moves on looking for business elsewhere and damning the carter a second time. Next up a scoundrel comes up to the freezing Shiv and offers to befriend him. He asks what's in the cart and discovers that the Shiv has a valuable cargo of rich food to be used during the upcoming holiday. The scoundrel realizes he can't carry away both the wounded carter and the cargo. There is more word play on 'good' and 'bad'. The scoundrel walks away with the food leaving the poor Shiv to freeze and damning him the third time. The song ends with the thought that you can still here the Shiv's cries for help when the winter winds blow. OOC: Sorry we did not compose original music for this adventure, you'll have to make do with a summary.
