Yeah I can be mean sometimes. Honestly as far as Mirielle going off by herself that is not something I would do in a normal game. At least not in a game like PF2. Maybe in something like Numenera or Invisible Sun where GM shifts/intrusions are a thing. Honestly I sort of hated that sort of concept when I first read about them in Numenera but over time I found that I enjoy adding things that complicate the players life and give something mechanical to the player. I might end up adding something like that but giving Hero Points or perhaps give Crys some extra experience. I enjoyed the Bloodseekers (AKA stirges). Even though they were a pretty weak foe, 8 of them drained Nasha up something fierce. It is a good thing she is a good climber otherwise that encounter would have been much worse. So the Grindylows. Oh the Grindylows. So you see the Queen wants food for her "baby" boy Whale. Who "can't leave" the cave even though the walls of the cave according to the map are large enough that a large sized creature should be able to escape. But I digress, the Queen is all about food. That is why the Grindylows attacked the PC's ship in the first place. So they capture Fishguts and Quinn and in the original module they have them tied up near some Ghouls and let the ghouls go when the PC's fight them. Like I get that this is a cool bit of spectacle forcing the PC's to split their attention. However, why in the heck are Fishguts and Quinn even alive at that point? Why didn't they become fish food for Whale? So with my version of it Quinn and Fishguts were kept alive so that more people would travel to their cave. The queen was hoping to parlay with those that came to save the two of them to try and get more food for Whale. If nothing else it meant that they got more than just two people. Anyways, that this was the first dungeon for the party. Something I do like about Skull & Shackles is that the dungeons rarely have a lot of traps in them. Typically no more than one or two per dungeon. Traps, if done poorly, tend to grind my gears a little bit. Also of course Grindylows were another monster in the Bestiary 2 that I had converted beforehand. Oh well.
