Also called the Ashen Seas, this is the general oceanic region south of Ashen-Tikki.
Most islands currently known exist in or near the Main, a system of island groups running roughly east-west about a week's sailing south of the mainland. However, a number of notable islands have been rumored in the open ocean beyond the Main, some far to the south.
So far, encountered tribes include the Yaren, the Lieu Vadish, the Majuro, and the Kamorro. Notable locations not associated with a tribe include Kraken's Cove, Titan C, and Sanctuary.
As better sailing ships have allowed longer voyages of exploration, the potential for trade has attracted merchant navies and individuals (merchanteers), followed promptly of course by a rise in pirates and privateers (who conduct a blend of trade and piracy). The Royal Tikkan Navy, based primarily in Mershan, works to enforce basic naval law.
Other notable NPCs or factions known to be active in the area are Hajh Rutan's merchant navy, Captain Jade ar Liss (privateer), Rastafarment the Horrible (notorious pirate), Odonata (possibly a dragon), the mysterious "Acheron," Vanthus aBorren (swashbuckler/thief), and a rumored pirate fleet gathering to oppose Rutan's new alliance in Joqul.
