Tarag draws another breath to berate the fellow, then stops. Looking at the young man's earnest face, noting the way he stands straight (if a trifle unsteady), he is impressed despite himself by Richard's sense of honour, and his willingness to make right a problem that he has caused. The dwarf expels the breath he's just taken in a snort of laughter rather than an expletive. "Ah, lad - I like you. Your heart's in the right place. It's just that, after all that beer, your head's in a wrong one." "Keep your potions. Your friend might be in need of them again, and I'll not have it said that Tarag took the breath from a dying comrade. Besides, they can do me no good at this time. I've only just set up this shop, and yours was to be my first big commission. I have no cash on hand, and no ready line of credit yet. Whatever we could get for the potions, were we to sell them, wouldn't cover the cost of the stock for your sword." Here Tarag pauses as an idea strikes him. "I don't suppose your friends could loan you the money? Ah well, if not, I'll find a way to persuade the merchant to hold off on making that delivery. It'll not help my reputation with the suppliers, and I'd rather not do it, as I've made a compact with them, but there's no way around it. And I am a damned fine smith, so there'll be plenty of orders in the future!" Tarag laughs again, and claps Richard on the shoulder. "Don't worry, my friend. There's no harm done. And I've gained a valuable contact, and a loyal customer, eh?" He nudges Richard in the ribs. "And you - why, you've gained a healthy respect for dwarven ale." "And who knows - the next time you decide to go off, you might take a cleric with you, too. Keep me in mind. It's not as if I'm making my fortune here at the moment!" And, roaring with laughter, he indicates to Richard that he should gather up his gear.
