The first 3 to 4 days south are through deciduous forest, with two additional days through southern prairie, then the final days are through predominantly conifer forest. The weather is almost uniformly warm, except for the early mornings when there is usually a light rain. Beneficially, the two young men are able to feed themselves with catches in their snares and even a few rodents by using blowgun or sling. They also discover that each has the talent to make fire. Jaguar has never seen anyone outside of his own kin with such a talent. Whisper has never seen anyone else at all. He has only heard rumors.</p><p></p><p>In the afternoon of the third day, as the two are leaving the deciduous forest and entering the grassy area, a group of other nomads is seen ahead, just starting to cross the road. They are recognized at about 50 strides away as having darker skin than Jaguar but lighter skin than Whisper, with a slightly reddish hue. Their thinness is indicative of adolescents, but it is difficult to determine if they might be Hebrians or Rheini. They turn and begin charging toward the two in a very aggressive manner, waving their bone weapons above their heads and making a lot of noise in an attempt to be intimidating. The gray blotches of dye on their skin and their mannerism identifies them as Headhunters, which are not Hebrians or Rheini.</p><p></p><p>It is not prudent to wait to see how many of them there will be because it is already known that there are far more than two. It should take them about 20 seconds to close, which is enough time to take evasive action. It seems foolish to try to engage them in the open, being outnumbered.
