I have read through your article, it is interesting for sure here is something of a slight counterpoint (I appreciate not 100% contextual, but discusses the need for inclusion, and emotional states that foster belonging) Social Inclusion and Exclusion: How Evolution Changes Our Relational and Social Brain (I refer to the oranges vs oranges point I made above) Furthermore in your posted article page 12 identifies the three purposes of exclusion. It also goes on to state that folk who are mindful, recognise the reasons for exclusion, and therefore made change (super condensed version). I understand the nature of radicalism, essentially, some folk will go searching for an echo chamber, especially one that rails against the ostraciser. The article suggests there are other factors, and notes that research needs to be done on personality types, reasons for exclusion, and how that leads to radicalism and many other bits, and though an interesting read, I don't totally agree with it's conclusions, but can see how they reached them. In regards your belief in your boss, I understand what you are saying. I find most people in direct inter-personal in-person work-space discussions are usually fine, even if we have ideological differences. I should note it is usually more skewed if they require my skillset. (In the old days we called this two-faced.) It could be the very reason you may not have had the bad experience that others has claimed is the realisation by your boss that he needs you so his behaviour is tailored to you accordingly. (speculation for sure.)
