Unfortunately, on his first mission for The Cause, deliverling "medical supplies" to anti-Vegan radicals on Esperance (1116 Sol) he was caught and sent to the penal mining colony of Newcombe (2913 So1). There he learned a measure of toughness from his fellow inmates. His four year stint turned to eight when he was captured on a failed prison break. This time he played the model prisoner while inside he seethed at the Imperials. </em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>He fled to the Solomani Confederation where he was recruited quickly by SolSec. For the next eight years he rose in the ranks of the Solomani Security Forces conducting covert ops at the edges of the Confederation both Rimward and Coreward. It was during this time he was cybernetically enhanced. While the Imperium has qualms about everything from psionics to cyberware to robotics, the Solomani drive technolgy to its ethical limits as long as it give them an edge. Working for SolSec, Jacob bought into this philosophy and allowed himself to go under the knife. </em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>It seems that this extreme loyalty would not be rewarded. Towards the end of his second tour he encountered a dark secret two sectors Rimward of the Solomani Confederation border within several of the semi-autonomous colonies there. It was a secret that could mean the destruction of the Confederation and the secret led back to SolSec close the highest levels. When word got out that Jacob knew, he became expendable. He fled Spinward and Coreward into Aslan space using his contacts to join privateers near the Great Rift in Reaver's Deep sector. He tried his best to change his identity but still They followed. Finally, he travelled across the Rift sometimes for working passage and sometimes in low berth cautiously relying on Aslan hospitality, but he did not stop. He felt that They were always a jump or two behind. </em></p><p><em></em></p><p><em>He reached the edges of Imperial Space in the Spinward Marches, still holding on to the old Solomani loyalties, but confounded by the betrayl.
