Intriguing thread for sure! <oversharing ahead :) > I find my focus is its own uncontrollable beast, which is a massive problem when it comes to finishing anything. I will get laser focused on a project, work on it for weeks, and then suddenly get fired up about something else entirely. Or go into "I just want to play video games" mode for a while before I can muster up the focus to work on a project. So, I've got an array of answers to 'what am I homebrewing" :p I'll just focus on two. 1 - Shards So Shards is a new homebrew setting I've spent a good chunk of time developing. The intent is to use this for a face-to-face game, but I've thus far been unsuccessful getting critical mass to get a game going. The game is almost entirely 4e, but with a few ideas from 13th Age added in - basically RP components - icons and one unique thing. Currently this project is in stasis until I get enough people to run it. In the interest of oversharing and for any curious, I've attached the world map and campaign primer I created for this. 2 - Shift So remember when WotC did this contest to get submissions for the next major campaign setting, and something called Eberron won? Well, I never stopped working on my submission, on and off over the years. The more time that passed, the less it resembled anything like any edition of D&D. I've got various iterations of mechanics that would take a second massive post to explain. A whole lot of rethinking, retooling, and completely starting from scratch on this project. Ultimately, I wonder if some of what I wanted to do would play better in a CRPG because some of the complexity could be behind the scenes. Either way, I've decided to put aside the desire to make this game system and instead focus on making it a world to use to write stories and maybe even get published (I did get published in Dragon once, so you never know!). Some of the assorted mechanics ideas that I've flitted through over the years are:

All mental/emotional stats instead of physical ones - it's not physical strength that lets you do something but rather your conviction in an action; accuracy is not a measure of dexterity but of your discipline; etc.
Good/evil and law/chaos being actual active cosmic forces that have impact on PCs
Damage represented by losses in primary stats, also usable for non-combat encounters so there's a single mechanic for all types of conflict resolution
Eliminating dice rolling and replacing with a priority system, where players secretly decide to prioritize their actions in a round and then compare to their opponent's priorities to determine resolution
Player's Guide for Shards here -> The surface of Shards The skies of Shards
