Talkcrystals: This polished crystaline ovoid, roughly the size of a common hen's egg and apparently of a 50 GP value, allows the holder to speak with anyone who also holds a similar crystal, if the name of the other being is known, regardless of distance (but both must be on the same plane). The initial speaker must also be able to form a clear mental picture of the person whom he is attempting to communicate with in order to establish initial contact. Once a conversation is established, two-way conversations are allowed even if the respondant has no idea whom he is speaking to. Note that a crystal in the possession of a dead person will still function if the conditions to attempt to contact them are met; onlookers might be startled by the corpse "speaking" to them; anyone who perceives that it is coming from the crystal may engage in a discussion with the broadcaster upon taking possession of the item. The story behind the item: This came into being in my Spelljammer campaign. The party had discovered a cache of them, but thought that they were just gems and divied them up; they later discovered what they were after slaying a pirate who worked with an evil Zombie Master (the two baddies used them to communicate back and forth). Inspired, of course, by TOS communicators. Shiftsword: This weapon appears to be an ordinary short sword or dagger, but when the command word is spoken by the wielder, it can shift forms; the most common type is dagger-shortsword-longsword-bastard sword-greatsword , but others, such as sickle-scimitar-falchion or dagger-shortsword-rapier-katana are known, and it is speculated that there may be others that allow the weapon to take the form of any "blade" (dagger, sword, scimitar and the like). They may be of any magical "plus" and have additional powers just as any other magical sword, scimitar or dagger. "Thunder...Thunder...THUNDERCA-"...you get the picture. :D Bowblade: This magical weapon appears to be a bow (long or short) that is crafted of metal; however, it pulls as easily as a regular bow (although 50% are "strength" bows, taking advantage of the wielder's strength for "to hits" and damage). At the wielder's command, it will re-shape itself into a sword (shortsword or scimitar in the case of a shortbow, longsword in the case of a longbow). These weapons may be of any magical "plus", and have any additional powers as with any other magical weapon. Based on a weapon wielded by Turok in the Valiant Comics Unity storyline.
