Mid to late 70s. It was still relatively young at the time. So was I. Bunch of kids at the school were playing it. I had no rules, no idea what they were when I first started. Later got the rules. 1977 or whatever year it was when it first came out in the theater. I really don't know on this one. It was around when I was a kid in school (which was a long time ago). I knew about it before I bought a copy. The copy on my shelf appears to be the 13th printing, which was after December 1979, but I knew about it a long time before that. I can't recall when I first heard about the book.. I think I saw the first book on the shelves around 1999 or thereabouts. Didn't buy it, didn't read it. More notice on it came when the first film came out. Once again, I am unsure. I know I didn't have a great deal of interest in it myself but I had kids that got really interested in it, probably around the early or mid 90s (not sure which). I know I had another kid which got REALLY into Pokemon cards and the game as well later than that. That was a while ago. Probably as far back as when I was really little. However, I didn't REALLY notice until X-men revamped their line-up and started making waves. Once again, probably around the same time as D&D was noticed by me. Giant-Sized X-men had already come out, but the new line-up just captured my attention. My favorite was never Wolverine. It was always Cyclops and Nightcrawler that rocked. I also remember over a decade later playing the X-men game in the arcade. Beat it (with a ton of quarters) while also playing with a team-up between Cyclops and Nightcrawler. Having those two in it made the entire game the greatest arcade game ever!!! Star Trek?? Doctor Who??? Start Trek was from the early 70s, though I think it was on re-runs at that point. Was too young during the intial craze/showing to even really realize anything. People are so young...and you are now one of the older people... I still claim to be young in spirit though.
