As he grew up, though, he found himself developing a strong draw towards the magical arts. Though his parents seemed neutral on the issue, he went on with it and taught himself everything he could manage, simply playing with this and that and focusing to see what would happen.</p><p></p><p>Cowan was only 18 when he left home, for the first time curious of what there was to see in Faerun. He travelled west first, to the Heartlands, where his adventuring career began. After several enjoyable, successful, and profitable adventures and jobs, Cowan had become much more adept with his magic and soon left the Heartlands to the North.</p><p></p><p>For years, he simply switched between adventuring, exploring, and simply talking with anyone he was around at the time, leaning what he could about the peoples and the places he had never imagined as a child. With a strong focus on the elemental magic, his natural inclination towards water and the influence of the cold North helped to channel him into a very strong focus rather than a broad approach which he'd first thought about. Instead of wanted everything, Cowan instead found the one thing he loved and was good at.</p><p></p><p>Slowly approaching ten years since leaving home, Cowan slowly started to make his way back, but instead taking the long way around to continue his exploring of Faerun.
