So one of my players is considering playing a cleric but he wants to worship one of the standard deities of the pathfinder world. How does this fit in with the faiths and religions of the Zeitgeist world? I'm not sure if its more of the Clergy or Seedism. Any suggestions?

Firstly, feel free to do whatever you want; we kept a lot of the religious stuff vague so it'd be easier to adapt to what players wanted.

Second, the conceit of Z's setting is that gods almost never have a provable influence in the world. Sure, priests cast spells, but avatars of gods only show up in legends (and in one documented historical event, the Great Malice, 500 years ago). Because of the nature of the planes, things from other worlds cannot normally get into this world.

If a PC wants to worship a god, that's fine, as long as he's not expecting high-level intervention. As for what larger group to fall under, Seedism works if it's elvish. The Clergy works if it's something more human-oriented. Then there are plenty of small religious groups which are sometimes accepted, just not part of a large cultural movement. Like, if you wanted to have a PC who worshiped a god of darkness, that probably would be pretty fringe.

Very good, thanks you! So if he wanted to worship say Serenrae, the deity of the Sun for example, There wouldn't be much support. just small churches here or there? and absolutely no high level intervention.

She's one of the goddesses that could work just fine as part of the Clergy. It's meant to be a large organization with a lot of gods that share the same socially-acceptable, generally-positive ideology. They seem a bit too upbeat to be major players, but they'd be accepted as part of the pantheon.

Something like Rovagug, by contrast, would not be welcome. Calistria would fit in decently as an accepted god in Seedism.

The Clergy is like, I dunno, the historical Catholic church, absorbing a lot of different faiths and religions, but since this isn't a monotheist religion, it keeps the gods instead of reinterpreting them as saints or angels.
