That's easier to keep straight than whatever allegedly happened in DC Comics' Zero Hour event.

Nothing happened in Zero Hour. The only part of it that ever worked was retconned by blaming an evil yellow fear monster for Hal's actions, thereby ruining his breakdown storyline, his redemption arc and his time as the Spectre all in one fell swoop. Or is that felt swoop?

And for what? Getting Hal back as a Lantern with an even less likeable personality, if you can even call it that? Setting up the whole emotional spectrum mass retcon, along with every color having a totem beast? Not worth it even for a Lantern-cat that vomited out its blood and replaced it with tequila. Hal's original motivations in Zero Hour were the best thing in it outside of watching the eternally-awful Guardians get a long-overdue whooping and blaming the fear monster just destroys all of that.

The rest of it (especially the Hawk fakeout) was drivel even when the event was running and has been largely ignored since then anyway. And yet DC wants very much to keep Kyle Rayner, one of their most popular characters for years and the best thing to result from Zero Hour in the long run.

I just feel that at some point you have to accept that while you really like Pineapple on Pizza, they really don't like Pineapple on Pizza, and no amount of discussion on the virtues and hows of Pineapple on Pizza is going to make them change their mind.
