Which Greyhawk in D&D 2024

Posting this in "D&D Older Editions" for those who know Greyhawk.

Voted for 576, but with the caveat that it would be the Ghosts of Saltmarah soft refresh version.

I think it would be less of a headache to put the setting in "the present" and not a point in Oerth's past where there's a canon future already laid out for it. 600 CY is a nice round number and a good indicator that things are moving into a new era.

I've voted 576 as well. All my GH campaigns have started in that year. I've always lifted tons of stuff from later materials, but never really adopted the official timeline.

I would be happy with any of the first four options listed. I suspect they are going to go with Gary's 576 CY, if only because of the 50th anniversary. That would also provide the most bare bones setting version they could use to illustrate the relevant sections of the revised DMG.

Honestly, any of these would be great. I voted for Living Greyhawk because it's my favorite...I'm not as picky as the poll makes me sound.

I think it'll receive a similar treatment as FR did with 5e - the timeline will be moved forward, but the setting feel and details will be changed to be more in line with earlier versions. I'm not talking mechanics (I fully expect dwarven wizards and tieflings to appear, and happily), but they are more likely to move things back to how they were before From the Ashes in feel.

voted 576, if one is going to present Greyhawk as an example of how to create a world then the most minimalist version is best that was in all fairness published for a similar reason.

Clearly it'll have a narrow focus on the Sundered Empire sub-setting, and this is all a cunning plan for a grand relaunch of the late-90s Chainmail line. The heck with the rest of Greyhawk.
