GenCon 2009 Game Scheduling ForumGoing to GenCon? Here's the place to look for EN World pickup games, meet-ups, logistics, and the like. Please see the 'instructions' thread inside for how to format your game announcement.
We are looking for good people volunteer their time at the ENnies booth. We would like two people to work each shift and as many as want to help tear down the booth. When scheduling your time, please plan to show up 10 minutes before it starts.
Each volunteer should be ready to answer questions from passers-by about EN World and the ENnies. There will be a book at the booth with information such as when the ENnies ceremony will be held, the names of each judge, who the nominees are, etc. Also, some publishers may drop off materials for next years ENnies, so the volunteers will be required to have the publisher fill out a form and give the publisher a receipt. You also have to make sure nothing is taken from the booth, especially on Saturday and Sunday, after the ENnie winners are announced Friday night.
Oh, did I mention the swag bag given to each volunteer?
I'll help set up the booth, what time would I need to be there?
It turns out that the booth will be in the Exhibitor's Hall this year, so volunteers won't be able to help set it up. However, we can have as many volunteers as we want to help tear it down.
Barring unforeseen circumstances I can do Thursday 12 to 2.

NEVER hold to the letter written, nor allow some barracks room lawyer to force quotations from the rule book upon you, IF it goes against the obvious intent of the game. As you hew the line with respect to conformity to major systems and uniformity of play in general, also be certain the game is mastered by you and not by your players. Within the broad parameters give in the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Volumes, YOU are creator and final arbiter. By ordering things as they should be, the game as a WHOLE first, your CAMPAIGN next, and your participants thereafter, you will be playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons as it was meant to be. May you find as much pleasure in so doing as the rest of us do.
Looks like I am running games the whole time that the booth is open this year. I had a good time working with Rodrigo Istalindir last time. Might be a good idea to make sure everyone who volunteers gets the full information on how to sign in (particularly important for the morning slots) and what is needed to get into the exhibit hall. Some mixed signals last time created a bit of confusion between booth volunteers and Gencon volunteers regarding access.

Likewise!
And believe me, that's high on my priority list, too.

I plan on being there each morning to make sure everyone gets signed in and the booth is open and ready to receive guests from the get-go. I will make sure everyone who has signed up gets info on entering the hall early.
You guys rock! Thanks for stepping up to help Dex and Morrus and the rest of the ENnies. I'll risk speaking for more than myself and mention that the community really does appreciate it.
I can take either Thursday from noon-2pm, or Sunday from 2-4pm depending on where you need me most. I'm leaving on Sunday night, so can't help with teardown.

I put you in Thursday from noon to 2 so you have time if you need it Sunday afternoon. Thanks!
