SECRET WARS, ISSUE #1 PAGE 1 PANEL 1 (full page): A large PLANET, greenish-gray in hue, floating in space. Behind and to the "left" side of the planet are two red-orange moons. In the far b.g, a long RIBBON of blue energy creates a horizon. CAP: "A nameless planet, far from Earth, far from anything we know. Here, a battle will take place. A battle pitting the most powerful beings in the galaxy. A war that will play out beyond the knowledge of the inhabitants of the galaxy. A SECRET WAR to determine the fate of everyone in our reality!"
=========================
PAGE 2 PANEL 1 (double): Assembled before a strange TOWER of alien design are the Crusaders. Between and Glitter Girl and standing together on a rock. Captain Episilon stands on a taller rock, scanning the horizon. Metabo-Lad and Prodigy are seated near a broken piece of strange technology. Super-Fly hovers near Captain Episilon. CAP: "The CRUSADERS, one of Earth's most powerful collection of heroes, has found themselves in a strange land. Their mandate is to destroy their enemies, super-villains they have faced all-too often. But first, our heroes must get their bearings on this alien planet." PANEL 2 (double): Large collection of the villains in a bombed-out spaceship. Jade and Scream from the Maidens of Mayhem argue with Lilith and Obsidian of Turmoil. Queen Cyborg, merged with a giant tank, looks on in the b.g. Tick-Tock examines the ship's equipment. Nemesis stands to the side, watching, aloof. The Oracle sits in the lotus position, apart from the others. CAP: "The villains, the teams known as MAIDEN OF MAYHEM and TURMOIL, along with a host of solo villains, including QUEEN CYBORG, TICK-TOCK, and NEMESIS, have found themselves in a spaceship of alien design. The ship appears to have crashed on this unknown planet a long time ago. The villains begin their own time on this world bickering amongst each other."
=========================
PAGE 3 PANEL 1 (double): The ATOMIC LEAGUE stands on a rocky precipice, overlooking what appears to be a small village down below. Assembled here are Core, Halflife, Lady Nuke, and Meltdown, all facing the village in the distance. CAP: "The ATOMIC LEAGUE has found themselves in an entirely different locale. They may have found locals, perhaps natives who can provide some answers about this strange, new world." PANEL 2 (double): FOREVER FREEDOM - Blitz, Echo, Nightengale, Optic, Ricochet, and the Visitor - stand at the lip of a volcano bubbling with red-orange lava. Standing some distance away is AVATU. CAP: "FOREVER FREEDOM has been transported from Earth as well. They have arrived at the caldera of an ancient volcano. They must find the other heroes and develop a plan to take on the super-villains before the villains win this war!"

OOC:
This is where the player characters come in. Feel free to interact as you will.
Also, please take a look at the RG for a list of the heroes and villains that will be part of this scenario.
Galen wipes sweat from his beard as the group stands so near the caldera. "You know, it's hard not to make a frying-pan-to-fire joke, all things considered," he says with a half-hearted chuckle.
"Well since we're up here anyway, might as well see if I do a sound sweep." He closes his eyes, and after a brief humming sound, simply turns his head to the side as if listening to something none of the others can hear.

Setting the Sound Manipulation Array to the super-hearing setting. 100x normal range, accurate, acute, and ultra-hearing at play, trying to do a survey of their surroundings and see if any of the others are with his range.

Nightengale
Nightengale can hear conversation happening somewhat nearby. ::
First voice (male adult) Second voice (female adult) Third voice (different male adult)
"Where do you think the rest of them are?"
"Dunno."
"This place is crazy. I just want to go home."
... long pause ...
"That village down there. I don't see anyone moving around."
Optic turns his head his eyes hidden behind his visor as he searches the surroundings. The visor begins to glow as he utilizes his full array of impressive visual abilities.
Like a computer, he takes in everything - The heat and makeup of the volcano, the layout of the surrounding area, the moods of his teammates and Avatu, finally focusing his attention on the area Nightengale is hearing sounds from.
As Optic and Galen check sight and sound, Echo glances up into the sky as she consults the multi-frequency radio built into her body. She scans through the spectrum, searching for any sign of a signal or attempt to communicate.
When Galen reports hearing people she remarks distantly, "We should make sure they're on our side before we reveal ourselves to them. If they're not, ambush is the best plan."

Without any relevant skill checks, here is what Optic gets:
Optic
THE VOLCANO: The magma is giving off a significant amount of heat and steam. It may or may not be ready to erupt.
YOUR IMMEDIATE AREA: You do not find any significant foot traffic around the volcano, or really, anywhere in the vicinity. If intelligent life exists on this planet, they do not travel around here. You see no evidence of animal life and plant life is very scant. You do not immediately recognize the flora.
THE AREA NIGHTENGALE FOUND: You see a village of some kind. It is far away, a dozen miles from your current position. A short mountain overlooks the village. You see beings standing on a cliff. This is a small group, possibly 3-5 in number.
Optic can choose to make Perception checks to get more information about something specific from the above, or Expertise checks where appropriate.

Echo
You do not pick up anything on the radio frequencies.

"There is a village in that direction. Whether we plan on going there or not, we should vacate this area. The volcano could be unstable, and there doesn't appear to be any signs of life travelling around here. If the local fauna know to stay away, we should too."
OOC:
Sry forgot to point out that with Skill Mastery, Optic can take 10 on Perception, for a total of 30.
Forgot to add the bonuses to my Expertise rolls. Optic has +12 Science for a 14, and +10 anything else for a 17 if he needs a different kind of Expertise.
Echo nods at Optic's assessment and with little more than a thought interfaces with her armor, sending it instructions for a new configuration. Plates of cerasteel composites click open and slide under one another to reveal four sets of metal loops with plastic guards around them. With an electric crackle, and a distinct scent of ozone, they light up with an unearthly blue/ultraviolet light that makes them shimmer and waver like heat mirages.
As if these were somehow wings, Echo levitates up a few feet off the ground and pivots to face towards the village Optic pointed out...though she cannot yet see it herself.
"There's no activity on radio bands, even communicator frequencies," she reports. "Either they're too far away, or no one's talking to each other yet. Our best course of action is to find and join forces with as many heroes as possible, as fast as possible. Alone, we will be relatively easy targets."
(OOC - Swapping 10 points of Impervious from Protection for 5 ranks of Flight)
"First looking at the village, then for the other heroes. We don't have yet their location, so let's start with what we know."
D'lyn decides at least for himself.
