Ten is able to read the man's surface thoughts. He's questioning whether surrenduring to this group will be better than having escaped to face the wrath of that awful Causticus fellow at his failure.

10 bonus XPs to the first to address the gentleman by his name!

Nurlan joins the rest of the group as they begin interrogating the mysterious southerner. "Perhaps it is best that you explain to us why you occupy this cavern, why you like to impersonate deities, and why you consort with vicious hyena-folk. Oh, and who else you have been involved with. Then we'll decide your fate."

"The gnolls, yes. I don't much care for them. I'm a simple man, down on my luck a bit. Gamble too much, you see. Needed a bit of cash, and ahem, a new place to go. I met this man, Causticus, he calls himself. He said he could use my talents. Paid me quite a bit of money. Promised me more. Says he just wants me to impersonate this KaziKazi to keep the gnolls in line. Said he'd help me out. And he did. Wasn't too hard. A few illusions. Food and weapons delivered as if by magic. I never had to kill anyone. But this Causticus, the more I worked for him,...er, you don't work for him do you?" The man squirms a bit, and tries to sit down. He's breathing quite heavily, and sweating.

Nurlan replies, "No, we don't. And since your fate is in our hands, if you know what's good for you, as of right now you don't work for him either. So, what else can you tell us about him?"

Eanos, human monk

Eanos sighs slightly as the man surrenders, and backs away a few steps, letting healthier party members close on the man as Eanos rests against the wall, nursing his not-fully-healed wounds. As the others seem to have questions under control, Eanos remains silent. Folk like Nurlan and Rinaldo are better at talking people up, in any case. The monk focuses on his own strengths, reading the man's body language and tone throughout the interrigation to make sure the answers they're getting are truthful.

Ogrin listen too the man speaking, then after a while the copper hits the pan. "You be the one the Viscount calls Frump the runt, then?"

Ogrin takes little part in the interrogation, except pretending to restrain Razh from disembowelling the gnome.

OOC: Still travelling. Frump was mentioned in the letter from the viscount Rinaldo has (see the first posts in the original threaed, available in the 2nd or 3rd post in this thread). I added the runt bit to provoke him into talking more crap about the viscount :)

The man (not a gnome) struggles to his feet, "'Frump the runt' I'm sure. You're damn right I don't work for Causticus anymore. He never pays me anyway. After the downpayment, I haven't seen a thing. He's got money - he showed me a box of gems and jewlry. You know him too, eh? In any case," he pauses and bows, pulling his faded cloak about him, "Wimpell Frump at your service. Specialist in illusions, and sophisticated deceit. I'll be very pleased to never see this flea-infested dungeon again. What brings you fine gentlemen into such a forbidding establishment?"

"Causticus," Eanos returns coldly. "Him and his other conspirators. Which, given your lack of employment satisfaction among other ... incentives--" here the monk lifts his sai and smiles wickedly "--I'm sure you'll be happy to help us find, of course."

"Oh, I'd help you find him. Yes. Listen, I'm sorry about your mate there. I didn't really mean to kill anyone, but this Causticus, you know him, don't you. He's not the sort who messes about. Those gnolls, too, if they'd seen any sign of weakness on my part, I'd of been their next dinner. And if I'd retreated, I think Causticus would have had me drawn and quartered."

Wimpell Frump takes a deep breath and fishes in his pocket, producing a long stemmed wooden pipe. He then pulls out a bag of fragrent tobacco. He offers it up to the group before taking out a pinch for his pipe.

"That was quite a battle. You gentlemen are professionals. Very bold attack" he says, nodding at Ogrin. "Nice trick with the rust monster, don't you think?"

Razh gives Ogrin an incredulous look. He whispers gruffly, so that Frump hopefully can't hear, "Oi, this bugger isn' scared a bit! 'E's got a gang o' rather peeved professional killers surroundin' 'im, an' 'e lights a pipe? Please, lemme rough 'im up a bit, alrigh'?" Rasereit resists the urge to bat the pipe right out of Frump's mouth, knowing that it would only steel the man against him more.

[sblock=OOC: ]No retries on intimidates, I looked. But Frump's lack of concern bothers me.[/sblock]
