Name D&D's Bat People

I have a theory that goes something like this.

D&D has a lot of creatures that could be described as "animal heads."

There are more Bat People than any other kind of animal heads.

I'll get the list started, but I am certain I am forgetting a few:

1. Banligor
2. Desmodu
3. Avari
4. Were-bats
5. The race mentioned in the backstory of "Dwellers of the Forbidden City"
6. ?

Hound archons, and didn't basic D&D's Known World have dog-people called "Lupines" or something similar?

As for bat-people, except for "were-bats" I have not heard of any of those.

I thought this was going to be a thread for us to give suggestions as to what a race of bat people should be called, as I had no idea there were names for them.

"Who are you?"

"We're Batmen."

[EDIT- Also, don't forget the Cryion from Mystara. Definitely a type of Bat-men. The tabi may or may not count as well.]

I think "cat people" win, hands down:

  • Rakasta (and numerous subtypes)
  • Catfolk
  • Tabaxi
  • Tibbit
  • Werecat
  • Weretiger
  • Werejaguar
  • Leonal
  • Leomarh
  • Rakshasa

I'm probably missing a few.

There is a 2E Dragon magazine with several variant races, one of them being part drow, part something else, that have bat wings.
