After nodding towards him, Tau begins to blush a bit. "Well, sir, I, uh, I haven't actually helped with the warding personally, sir. My path lead me here instead."

"Pshaw, Constable Tau, I didn't mean that you, personally, kept the wards up, I was only referring to the fact of your association with the LCA, who does maintain the wards. Now, does anyone else have a comment or question that pertains?"

"Magistrate, the information you have provided on the hobgoblin slavers matches the information we found in speaking with Sir UpJohn, in that ogre bands have been spotted in Eastmarch. I believe that this is a further example of our suspicions that something very powerful is directing the movements of these various humanoids. However, we need proof, and I believe the proof we seek can be found in the mountains.

"That is surprisingly good police work for a human, Constable Talisker. Are you sure you don't have some Dwarvish genes?"

Zane Harper has to bite his tongue hard enough to almost bring himself to tears to keep from laughing at the uncharacteristic mirth of "Ironpants'" question. He lets his mind wander on how well he knows the mountains to think of any possible hideouts of a force strong enough or smart enough to be guiding the normally unorganized bestial ogres.

None of the constables are familiar with the region in question. The mountains are too rugged and dangerous [to humans, etc.] for anyone to go there by choice.

The constables certainly would decline to spend a weekend hiking and camping in the icy and treacherous terrain toward which their current task points them. It is their sworn duty as Constables of the 14th Ward of the City of Lauralie Summerhome that propels them toward this place at this time. Could they decline the mission? Possibly. They might even still have jobs in the 14th Ward if they did so. You know, 5 sp/week for wrangling stray dogs and horses, escorting drunks home after a night of revelry, and occasionally rousting a few whores for a night's stay in a jail at 14th Ward expense. Or they could perform the mission assigned to them by Magistrate Ironshirt and garner all the fame and wealth entailed thereby. If they survive, that is.

What will it be, Constables?

Constable Zane Harper smiles broadly and says, "Sounds like a chance for fame and glory. I can hardly wait until we leave."

Brae smiles at the Magistrate. "Perhaps a bit of dwarvish blood on my mother's side."

He turns to the rest of the constables. "An expedition into the treacherous mountains in the dead of winter? Certainly not for the faint of heart. But we shall undertake this mission with the utmost urgency, to address the threat against our fair Lauralie Summerhome, and end the threat if possible. We should gather such supplies and equipment as we may need for an expedition of this sort, and leave at first light."

OOC: I need to review Brae's character sheet, but I think he may need to pick up a few items before we head off in search of adventure.
