The stairs lead to a rough-hewn, winding passage. It is wide enough for two two walk abreast comfortably, and the roof is only occasionally low enough to need to duck. In places it is interrupted by more short flights of steps, up or down.

Judging by gouges in the walls, the passage twists and changes level so much because it was following a seam of ore. The stairs must have been added later - miners wouldn't take the time to add such conveniences, they would just leave the floor sloping.

Eventually you reach a side passage. A flight of steps leads downwards to your left, and you can hear the sound of rushing water from below. The passage also continues straight ahead into darkness.
