Yeah but he basically flatly contradicts the statements he supposedly gave to Newsweek. This story just keeps on getting weirder and weirder...

Small correction: Five years ago, the guy wrote a specification that eventually became important.

Hindsight is 20/20. It is easy to say now what he should have done. But predicting what'll come back and bite you on the butt 5 years from now isn't necessarily easy.

Then, and this drives me nuts when my wife does it, by making a further big deal of not wanting to answer questions, etc, it only further raises curiosity.
