Before Agnasci goes in Law stops him, "I have the gun bud, don't need you in my line of fire." Before entering he casts Grim Sight (Gnosis: 1 Death: 2) and then Entropic Guard (Gnosis: 1 Death: 2.) Then goes in.

Harper stands back from the others a bit, near Crow, and watches. He's felt that frisson of nearby spellcasting several times, more than just cold and damp from the drizzle, and wonders what has been discovered. "What do you see, then?" He'd like to question Crow also but without a bit more information he isn't ready to work his own magics.

Penrose has taught Harper quite a bit in the past few weeks but Harper isn't sure yet what might be most useful and, if truth be told, he feels stretched a bit too thin if he has more than one spell in existence at a time. He's sure that'll change in time but for now he waits until he gets word from his fellow students.

Law takes a few moments to activate his Entropic Guard (failed the first few times) but is able to cast Grim Sight in an instant. The effect is immediate: He feels as if a funeral shroud has been pulled over his eyes and it colors all that he sees, everything blanketed in black fog that he knows to be the omnipresent touch of death. The fog reminds him of his awakening and the effect is unsettling. There isn't anyone in the world who hasn't encountered death in one way or another, but some have felt its touch more than others. Faye is drowning in the fog and Law concludes that it's likely she's killed, perhaps more than once, and people have tried to kill her.

To everyone: Law's Grim Sight enables him to see how closely a person, place, or thing has rubbed shoulders with death, as demonstrated above with Faye. If you'd like, include in your next post what Law sees when examining your character with Grim Sight. If you don't it will be assumed your character has no particular connection to death.

[sblock=Grim Sight]This patch of desert hasn't been touched by death in any substantial way. Animals and plants die out here every day but it's nothing that stands out to Law. The trailer, on the other hand, has been tainted by death. It's possible that no people have died in the trailer, but it's clear that more than one nearly did.

Grim Sight does more than just reveal the presence of death - it also grants Law mage sight. The resonances of the world are revealed to him, everything pumping and throbbing with the colors of the tapestry of existence (for rules on scrutinizing the resonances of people, places, and things, see pg277 in the Mage: The Awakening rulebook). What immediately catches Law's attention is a great vein that runs along the surface of the earth from the south before disappearing beneath the trailer. Is this the ley line Faye mentioned? Finally, Law notices a faint glow coming from Faye's bolo tie. It's magical.[/sblock]
Law climbs into the trailer with his gun and flashlight directed ahead of him. Agnasci is behind him and Chance brings up the rear with her phone's camera readied. Faye waits outside with Harper and his familiar. The crow, normally aloof of everything but its master, watches the trio disappear through the door.

Agnasci can't pinpoint the exact location of the alien consciousness he's detected, but it's among them now.

To the right of the door is a sleeping nook with a large bed, still made. Law scans the area with his flashlight before moving into the bathroom. There are about a dozen extinguished candles piled in the sink. Law keeps his flashlight on them for a beat before reaching for the medicine cabinet, its mirror covered in a spiderweb of tiny cracks. He takes a quick inventory of its contents (some over the counter pain medication, dietary supplements, hot flash relief, a contact lens case, etc) and closes it. He steps across the bathroom floor toward the shower, reaches out with a hand and pulls open the curtain. He's greeted by the sweet stink of recent death that makes him recoil for a moment.

There's the corpse of a bull dog in the tub. A plastic bag has been pulled over its face and taped off at the neck. Each pair of legs has been taped together.

Law moves closer to the tortured animal and casts Forensic Gaze (Gnosis: 1 Death: 2) on the animal, his instincts tell him that the cause of death would be asphyxiation, because that's the easy answer but after working with this motley crew, nothing ever is as it seems.

Law squints at the dead creature and it yields its secrets immediately: The poor animal suffocated, as expected. It died a little under seven hours ago.

Before leaving the trailer to consult with the others, Law casts Find the Hidden Hoard (Gnosis: 1 Matter: 1) to make sure he didn't miss anything.

After giving the trailer a brief sweep with the matter arcanum Law is pretty sure there aren't any secret doors or hidden compartments.

After Law looks around he looks a bit dissatisfied with his search results. He looks to Agnasci and says, "So you say there is something else here huh? I'm going to give something a try, never done it before, should be interesting." Law then uses the spell Speak with the Dead (Gnosis: 1 Death: 2.)

Law focuses his mind on the imago of his intended spell and feels supernal energy course through him as it activates. His recent exertions seem to be exhausting him. The effort of keeping so many spells active is taking its toll (Law has three spells active - Entropic Guard, Grim Sight, and Speak With The Dead - which is more than he can bear comfortably. Law will take a -1 penalty to all spellcasting rolls until he's lowered the amount of spells affecting him).

When he turns to the door of the trailer he spots something and nearly tumbles back into Agnasci and Chance.
[sblock=Speak With The Dead]Everything inside the trailer looks the same as it did before casting the spell, but when Law turns to go he comes face-to-face with a great gray mass stretched taut over the outside of the doorway. It's hazy and indistinct, like a field of thick television static. Law suspects that if this were a ghost his grim sight would make it obvious. Whatever it is seems to have no particular connection to death. It's not a ghost.

Still, it's definitely in twilight, a state of being Penrose has described ghosts as occupying, and it seems to have attached itself to the exterior of the trailer.[/sblock]
