Meriene catches sight of the giant beetle and starts to shake. The she-elf backpedals toward the west, away from the beetle. At the end of Round 1, Meriene will be inside Room 1, the first antechamber.

[sblock=Passive Perception 10]If your character rolled a 10 or higher, he hears more scuttling coming from behind the giant beetle, further south down the far eastern corridor that runs north-south. There are at least two more creatures down that corridor, possibly more.[/sblock]
Saying
"Cursed long corridors anyway," Guran moves his speed (25 feet) toward the new arrival, drawing his light hammer as he goes. Guran throws his light hammer, but the weapon clanks off the giant beetle's carapace and falls to the stone floor with a thud, landing at the intersection of the west-east hall and the corridor from which the beetle came.
Colden steps forwards and launches his handaxe at the beetle. Just like Guran's light hammer, however, Colden's handaxe fails to penetrate the hard outer armor of the giant beetle. With a sharp clang, the handaxe clanks to the stone floor.
Eldon draws a dagger and moves forward to take aim at the beetle. Unable to get around Guran and Colden, however, the Halfling grasps the dagger and positions himself and his blade to throw at the beetle in the next round.
Fulgrim mutters,
"Is it even hostile?" and calls forth a mystical bolt of fire, directing it toward the monstrous insect. The bolt slams into the beetle's hard outer shell, burning a hole past the carapace and into the creature's innards. Blackened bits of shell fall off, and the acrid smell of burnt insect fill the hallway.
The giant beetle at first seems unperturbed by Guran's light hammer and Colden's handaxe, but Fulgrim's bolt of magical fire makes the creature dance. The beetle snaps its mandibles three times and shunts its body forward toward the party,
catching Colden just in the moment that Colden smirks at Fulgrim and says, "I'll ask." Colden feels the pinch of mandibles pierce his torso, then pull free a chunk of flesh for
6 points of damage.
Rosco turns around to the beetle and follows the others. He hurls a javelin at the large insect, but the pointy stick falls harmlessly to the ground.
