CB's Grim Frequencies IC -- COMPLETE

Feral hangs out in the van for the time being, keeping an eye on the entrance then says to Marks, "Hey, keep an eye on the door. I'm going to head around the back."

Something about this didn't feel quite right and Feral usually followed his gut. The one time he didn't, he got busted, so he had resolved to never make that mistake again.

In the Van, Death Otter writhed in her seat.

"Ugh. UGH! This makes no sense!" she complained to their handler. "Why go to all this trouble to spring us just to BUY THE TOY?! You don't need a bunch of CONVICTS for that!"

Cyril takes the $60 from Feral, hops out of the van, and makes for the store. The entrance has double glass doors that swing outwards, and then automatic sliding doors just to the Cyril's right. The walls are glass, allowing customers their first glimpse of the wonders within. Before he even enters the sliding doors, Cyril notes the customer service desk through the glass wall. Two clerks man the desk, and a line of five customers waits impatiently for service. A fat woman with a large box in both arms stands in line at the customer service desk. Even through the glass, Cyril hears the fat woman yell at the clerk. "Hurry it up! You got people here waiting for ten minutes!" Despite the cold winter weather, the fat lady doesn't have on a winter coat, but her hooded sweatshirt proclaims, "Christ is the reason for the season!"

Just inside the sliding doors stands what looks like season clearance. Cyril spies a large number of Thanksgiving decorations, a stuffed turkey discounted from $59.99 to $10, and two rubber Halloween Frankenstein masks designed to fit over one's head. The masks are on sale for $5 each.

As best Cyril can tell, the shelves bearing merchandise are in the middle of the store. These shelves are roughly ten feet high, with additional boxes of unmerchandised goods stacked on top of the shelves. The shelves hold
toys, games, action figures, coloring books, art supplies, dolls, dollhouses, electric trains, plastic models, toy vehicles, and all sorts of things that thrill children of all ages.

As Cyril nears the retail shelves, first T-dawg then J.R. enter through the sliding doors and round the customer service desk. The store has a bank of five check-out counters, but only three of the five are staffed. A long line of customers waits at each of the three open counters.

The store is packed with customers. Cyril spots an overhead placard on one of the aisles that reads "Digital Toys, Aisle 5."

Out in the parking lot, Feral gets out and heads around the back of the store, leaving Marks and Otter inside the van. A bottle-fly metallic green Cadillac Seville sits parked in the loading area beside a large dumpster filled with broken-down cardboard boxes on the northwest corner of the store. A semi tractor-trailor has been backed into one of the store's loading docks, but no workers are anywhere in sight. No one seems to be sitting in the green Caddy, and the car seems out of place behind the store.

Feral strolls along, seemingly casually, but scoping out the car. If there's no one around, he'll take a closer look, keeping an eye out to make sure no one sees him.

Cyril took a good look around the store. Ah, you have to love Post-Christmas. People's lives made miserable now that the temporary joy of their brats has abated... Reaching up, he grasped the back of his head and chin and expertly cracked his neck with a loud pop. Walking back toward the toy aisle, he took the time to examine the packages in the hands of the people waiting in the customer service line. Given the crowds, he wasn't too sure if any of these BunBuns were going to be left... but maybe one of the people in the customer service line was returning a defective one that was giving their precious little so-and-so odd and foreboding instructions. Kind of weird, most of the rush on these things happened before Christmas, not after it.

Focusing on the task at hand, the former lawyer headed for Aisle 5.

OOC: I assume the bit about T-dawg being in the van was an error

T-dawg casually strolls into the store, and making a not particularly convincing show of browsing the shelves, positions himself between the entrance/customer service counter and aisle 5. He keeps one eye on Cyril and the other on the activities at the customer service counter, checkouts and front door.

No one in line at the customer service counter has a toy that looks remotely like a rabbit. Cyril rounds the corner on Aisle 5 and, lo, there at the far end of the aisle sits a special display rack with a large orange, turquoise, and white sign that reads, "BUNBUN is HERE!" It's hard to tell from so far down the aisle, but it looks like there might be one mangled box sitting on the shelf adjacent to the special display rack.

While Cyril eyeballs Aisle 5, T-dawg remains closer to the seasonal display and the customer service counter. T-dawg spots a guy who looks out of place in a kid's toy store. The man is burly, Caucasian, and has blond hair styled in a bad buzz cut. The man is large--maybe 6'2"--and dressed in medium wash jeans, a white thermal, and a black fleece vest. Buzz Cut stops short just a step or two in front of T-dawg and starts eyeing the aisles. The man heads down Aisle 5 just a step or two after Cyril. T-dawg spots tattoos on Buzz Cut's neck.

Behind the store in the loading dock area, Feral strolls along and discretely has a look around. The back of the store is deserted. No one is unloading the tractor trailer. The green Caddy is unoccupied.

Otter spots a Marion County sheriff's car that rolls up across the street from the WeeBee Toys parking lot. The cop car parks in front of an access point leading to the Monon Trail, but no one gets out of the car. The light bar on the cop car stays dark. Maybe thirty seconds later, a late model navy blue Ford Econoline van pulls in behind the cop car. No one gets out of the van, either.

Spotting the beat-up box, Cyril grinned like a shark, surprised at how easy this whole thing was going. He wordlessly hummed along with the KidzBop! Muzak that was playing quietly over the store's PA system, mentally replacing the lyrics with much more inappropriate ones.

Death Otter immediately went on alert, sitting up straight in her seat and leaning over towards the window to get a better look.

"Dude," she said, reaching over to tap Marks shoulder with a little too much force. "Dude. Something's going down. There's eyes on the store. Check it out. The van's probably either full of surveillance WIZBANG or full of SWAT." She huffs her breath against the window and draws a little oval with a circle in it; an eye. "They's waitin'...they's watchin'..."

"Funny that it's a Sheriffmobile though. They're county cops...they'd have to be working with city police to bust someone here."
