…because in between adventures you're locked in an extradimensional space. I don't understand these types of rules. You're already spending gold and downtime. Why do something like this?
Personally, the last convention I went to, I had fun wandering around in the open area, introduce myself to random people and compare spellbooks. Apparently this is against the official interpretations of the rules, but it wasn't spelled out that way. /shrug
